Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre — Attraction in London

The pitch and adjacent facilities and staff are excellent and deserve 5 stars. What is absolutely below par is the overpriced low quality food on offer for events. You are told there is food available to purchase when you go, unfortunately a pizza will cost you £14, a simple chicken wrap £10, a crepe £7. You will pay 50% more than you would pay for gourmet food at Borough Market or Spitalfields Market. I understand that food at events is always slightly overpriced, but I don't see how a small hockey venue needs to charge more than Wimbledon or the Queen's Club! Just make it more family friendly and accessible to all if you want to promote hockey, don't rip off families who have already forked out money for the tickets. Whilst the sport facilities and staff here are wonderful, the parking management is a total disgrace. You need to register your car plate at the reception to get free parking, which generally works fine. On a rainy day we drove to the centre, found the tennis court unsuitable for playing and left without registering (it was only a few minutes). Days later we received a parking fine. Despite letter from Lee Valley confirming we had booking with their facilities, the company who manage the parking simply rejected the appeal. They offered a 'discount rate', and made the further appeal step complicated thus not worth the fight. This is a total disgrace and I do hope Lee Valley could find better management for the...
