Excellent staff and delicious food. Respectful and taking Covid very seriously. This is the first restaurant I have eaten at since Covid. I'm in the high risk group/vulnerable. Prob shouldn't be out, but I take risks that I am happy with. But earlier in the day I got a take away coffee- still not ready to sit in and rather worried. But the Zoe welcomed me and explained about sanitising before entering the building to use the bathroom. I just felt they were respecting Covid and people. Came back later in the day for food. Lucas warmly welcomed me, asked if I wanted to eat in/out, I explained about still not ready for inside. Respected me choice completely. Thanked me for choosing the Breakfast Club for my first dinning out experience and understood my trepidation. This virus serious just messes with your mind and confidence. Did say if it rained I couldn't come inside due to Covid- which I got Covid doesn't just disappear when it rains. Apparently had some people complaining how they were outside, started raining and wanted to go inside. The restaurant has to respect social distancing and capacity numbers- clearly not obvious to some people eyeroll. So I scanned the QR code for the menu and ordered. The food was delicious, I ordered a burger and chip/spuds so I wouldn't have to use their cutlery- still not there just yet. I got a chance to speak to Manny and just tell him how great the staff were and how safe I felt. We chatted for a little while. He was super friendly and we talked about the virus and how its been with the business. I ordered another drink from Rose, who is an absolute delight. It rained again and the place scattered. It was quiet due to the rain so I stayed for a while longer chatting to Rose about the virus, life etc and the other staff when they could joined in for a chat. I don't know if it comes across but all of them were so delightful, friendly and so respectful of social distancing, which is vital to me at the moment. I can't recommend this place more. Will be back soon and again, as its the only place I've felt safe enough to eat with Covid still...
Read moreAVOID THIS BRANCH! Came here to the Hackney Wick branch on Saturday (edit: 12/02/22) to start my celebration for my birthday - but ended up having the worst start to our day ever because of the most HORRIBLE service (and the food was mediocre).
We had ordered the All American Deluxe with vegan bacon and the Fried Chicken french toast.
So, the server had got our order wrong which is fine - it happens and we understand (misunderstandings would’ve happened especially because the music in there is so loud), but when we proceeded to tell the server that we had received the wrong item, she immediately got annoyed and gave the most dirtiest attitude I’ve ever come across?? So what happened was, we let her know that our order is wrong & that we ordered the All American Deluxe which comes with the steak but instead we received the All American which comes with Sausage instead of steak, then she proceeded to say with the rudest attitude “Ummmm no. you ordered the all american. that’s why I asked...” etc and then just told us why we were wrong 🙄. It was so frustrating and uncomfortable being served by this server I then had to ask her if she’s annoyed by us because she made us feel like we were such a big burden. So then she went back to the kitchen, and proceeded to come back with the biggest attitude again, asking us how we want the steak. I dont know why she was so annoyed at us. Mistakes and misunderstandings happen and we are understanding people - I just don’t understand why she was so rude about everything.
We were not annoyed at all about the food error until she gave that rude attitude. It made us so so uncomfortable and put us off our food. It’s a shame because everyone else was so nice apart from her.
Oh, and my fried chicken french toast was tasteless and stale.
AVOID this branch!
I previously went to the Breakfast Club in Spitalfields and really enjoyed my food and the service at Spitalfields branch so honestly best to go...
Read moreI had a very unpleasant experience with your staff in Hackney Wick. I arrived for a table at lunch for 1. I've been working early and late. I just wanted lunch.
Upon arrival, the sign said. Wait to be seated. I waited.
I was greeted with an eye-roll from the staff. I then asked if I could sit outside, he shouted 'NO!' – I then asked what the other people were doing and he just ignored my ask and said 'Only inside'.
I entered your cafe. And wait. He then placed his hand on my lower back which was really odd. He then took me to a table, 'Then explained why he doesn't want people outside...' I just said 'No need to explain, inside is fine'. He then placed his hand on my shoulder, I immediately asked him to 'Stop touching me' he then shouted and argued with me – refusing to stop touching me.
Didn't accept of my request, then proceed to get in my face and invade my space. It was appalling service. The staff then surrounded me as I was leaving.
I didn't refuse to leave, as soon as he said I made my way to go – I didn't even get to sit down and look at the menu. This is beyond bizarre and very discriminatory. If you waiter didn't want me in your establishment, he could of refused service before I entered.
I did not even get a chance to sit down.
Usually the staff at Hackney Wick are friendly but you refused me service as I refused to be touched in your cafe. The man did this behaviour twice.
I want your formal contact so I can make a complaint about this. It isn't on your website.
To be clear, no one by law is allowed to touch a person without consent. When the person says 'Please stop touch me' that is enough of a sign for a person to correct their behaviour not make it worse.
That was really disrespectful and disgraceful behaviour. I was just trying to get my work lunch. I wish to make a formal complaint and would like the email and written address for Brand team at Breakfast Club (not the...
