Saw previous reviews and thought that we could try this place out. How wrong we were.

We had a reservation for 4 people at 12pm today, we got there at 11.55am and the doors were still locked. Around 12.10pm, someone came to open the door and then disappeared to the back. There was no one else on the floor, so we had to find the table with our name on it on our own.

One guy came out with a menu around 12.20pm but instead of giving it to us, he placed the menu on the table next to us without saying anything. Some minutes later, a lady (shoulder length hair) came to our table and gave us a clip board saying that it was the Sunday Roast menu, with no indication of how we should order and promptly left us. She then went back to the counter to pour a glass of Apple juice with some soda and later a glass with tap beer and disappeared into the back.

Another lady came out (with a bob hair cut), started spraying some sort of deodorant behind the bar, then proceeded to chat with the other lady like it was their living room, laughing at some videos they were watching on their phone, as if there were no customers in the restaurant at all.

After waiting for 45mins, it was obvious that they didn’t want to serve us or take our business, so we got up to leave.

The best part was, they assumed we were German tourists and laughed at us as we exited the restaurant. Such great service. If you decided to put 12pm as your first dining time slot for Sunday, wouldn’t it make sense to have the kitchen and staff ready by then?

Never coming...

Giving 2 stars as its a good venue and the staff is friendly but I was 2 times to eat- 4months ago you had delicious chicken burgers but the chef sent me the fries probably placed back in oil at least 3 times - very dry and very oily, disgusting we didn't eat them. . The burger was fine. Recently I be honest the chicken burger it was AWFUL, I understood you changed the kitchen but you need to have a talk with the chef. The chicken burger was dry at the same time it was falling apart and very very saggy, disgusting.. I struggled to eat half of it only as I was very hungry .. I don't think I ever tried or will try something like this again .. .also you don't have a non spicy option for chicken?! That's strange. The fries were good. I actually enjoyed them . So I paid 9 for a burger that it wasn't good at all to me and 4 for the fries..Very High priced for what it actually is. Apart from this most of the tables were dirty and the ashtrays full everywhere we tried to sit. I understand its a pub but the cleanliness should be achieved anyways. The forks and knives were kept into a dusty ,not too clean place.. I didn't want to get one. The bartender took some from the kitchen and gave me some actual clean ones.. Its a good pub but I was really...

Poor customer service, slow and long waiting times for food. Waited an hour and a half for two burgers and the manager did nothing about this/obviously didn’t care there were unhappy customers requesting refunds. Another customer had waited two hours to receive his food while we raised a complaint.

We were told the food would be out ‘soon’ after waiting an already unacceptable time and took chasing three different people before anything was actually done about this. No discount offer for a wait, not even offered an apology. The manager was more interested in standing at the end of the bar eating instead of running food/helping the kitchen get food out to people waiting ridiculous times. When my partner had initially tried to raise the concern she walked away and ignored him even though he was clearly waiting to be seen at the bar.

Abysmally run. Apathetic staff with terrible attitudes. We won’t be coming back and recommend people do not waste their time...

I really enjoyed my visit to this East London boozer with a hipster twist. As soon as I walked in, I was whisked back to the time before all the gentrification in East London. It's obviously been spruced up a little with a beer garden at the back, but it still has the feel of a classic East-End boozer back in the early 90's. The food was fab. I loved the menu with its quirky names and I would highly recommend "The Chairman" burger. The epic side fries alone was generous in portion and a meal in itself. The Leyton Star is mere minutes away from Leyton tub station, pet-friendly and the bar is run by friendly and chatty bartenders. A really relaxed pub. Great place to go for a drink and a chat with your mates. I can see myself back here when I'm in the area.

Generally a great local pub, spacious, quite a few tables and it would definitely be qualified as a sports bar. A West Ham pub, if that matters to you. The staff was fairly young but all lovely and helpful, and the food, despite it being outsourced to a small team, was delicious. The burgers and fries were very tasty and affordable, considering how much some pubs charge these days. The quantities were decent but not excessive. This is something to bear in mind. A disappointment was the fact that there were dessert options. But overall, a decent local pub, clean and not too routy on a midweek evening.

I stopped in the middle of that building and I saw — the sky. I saw the things that I love in this world. The work and the food and time time to sit and smoke. And I looked at the pen and said to myself, what the hell am I grabbing this for? Why am I trying to become what I don't want to be? What am I doing in an office, making a contemptuous, begging fool of myself, when all I want is out there, waiting for me the minute I say I know who I am! Why can't I say that, Willy?
