Absolutely thrilled to have found a good Italian in our area! We were warmly (ha) welcome in during a sweltering heatwave to a gorgeous canalside eat with the whole restaurant open to the outside seating. Menu is short and sweet, and this team know what they are doing. The pizza dough is incredible, and the size is generous especially given the price. But to me the absolute standout was the mushroom pasta. I can't remember the last time I scraped a bowl clean like that! It reminded me of a particularly special porcini mushroom dish I had in Rome, so it felt pretty darn authentic. The kids menu is a good deal, and the bolognese had a beautiful tomato flavour come through. I was very pleased with the portion sizes all round. And the finish dinner, their coffee was unexpectedly good - well probably expected given it's an Italian but I've been to many restaurants with abysmal coffee to ruin the end of the meal! Bellissimo e grazie, we will be returning :)

Good. 4 small plates between 2 the a main each then a desert and lemoncello. Only remembered to take photos of small starter plates, sorry! Nonetheless it was very good food, from my experience of Italy, it was very authentic. Lost a little on atmosphere as we were sat outside getting a bizarre blend of their own music and at least two of the neighbours, quite different music. Service was fine but little things let it down - I ordered a bottle of beer and the glass brought with it was warm. My wife's white wine could have been colder - although presuming it was from the same fridge, maybe that glass was also warm when the wine was poured? And it wasn't mad busy, there was only maybe one other table when we arrived and two when we left, so it was unlikely that all the glasses available were straight from the washer. But generally good. My biggest regret is not just ordering all the tuna tartare I could. Everything else was good but that was incredible.

A local Italian restaurant right by the canal in Hackney Wick, within walking distance to the station and the newly opened V&A East. Decided to have lunch here after visiting the museum and this place certainly deserves the high rating. A good selection of pasta, pizza and antipasta I opted for the bruschetta with tomato and Arancino alla Norma with aubergine, mozzarella & tomato sauce to start with which was in particularly tasty. For mains we went for this Maccheroncini with mushrooms, Tuscan sausage and truffle oil and this one on the special menu - Spaghetti Alla Nerano which is a pasta dish typically from Amalfi coast with fried courgettes. The truffle one is more rich in flavours but the courgette one is refreshing. The service is attentive and the place wasn’t particularly packed during lunch when I visited. With both indoors and outdoors seating areas, definitely a good spot to stop by for meals!

My boyfriend and I thought we’d try this place, looked really nice from the outside and got seated straight away. As we were waiting for friends we ordered a drink and waited for them to arrive. They arrived and then we we’re waiting a while for them to ask for their drinks and then what we’d like to order which we thought annoying but I understand what it’s like as I’ve worked in many hospitality places / restaurants before.

After waiting a while for the food I asked for another drink and then after waiting longer than expected for 2 drinks (again can understand when busy) the woman brought the drinks to the table and instead of coming to where I was sat she went to the opposite side of the table and tried to reach over to us and spilt the drinks all over the table and in the food (again completely understand accidents happen not why we were annoyed)

She picked the drink up apologises and then ran off quickly probably due to feeling bad and feeling embarrassed.

My friend went to the toilet as drinks were all over her clothes so she could try and clean herself. Whilst I’m sat there with drinks all over the table and floor we’re waiting for the staff to bring something to help us clean up, no one came so I had to get up and ask them for napkins or anything to clean up this mess. They cleaned and then the manager apologised and asked if we wanted more food and I said you need to ask my friends who’s food is sat covered in drinks as I wasn’t sure if she wanted her food remaking. There was glass all over the table to which we had to tell them we also didn’t feel comfortable eating our food as there was glass on the table as it had shattered (wish I took a photo of how it was)

My friend came back and the manager came back over and apologised and offered to remake the food to which we were just over the restaurant and just wanted to go elsewhere. We told the manager we were just going to leave and she brought the bill to the table and said ‘I’ve removed the service off the bill’ this is what really annoyed us, the service is an optional thing anything which we do normally pay but it really annoyed us how they got glass in the food and didn’t even take my friends food of the bill or my drinks they spilt and only removed the optional service charge.

We told them how we weren’t happy and how we were not paying for food that had glass in and how we were...

I went with my kid for an icecream and an aperol spitz. The waitress was very kind and professional, the outdoor space is what you want for an afternoon break, during a pitstop from a bike ride, on the canal.

The location is one of my favourite in East London for a drink. Great atmosphere and lovely when it is a sunny day. The member of staff told me that the icecream is home made in the other Gotto restaurant. I got strawberry and chocolate and it was amazing. One of the best icecream I have had in London, and certainly on my top 10 overall in the capital: well done, good value for 2 big scoops for £4.

My aperol spritz was decent in taste however the size was offensively small for an italian customer from Veneto, who has been drinking this cocktail for 25 years around italy and London. Probably a very cheap brand of prosecco in a very small cup for 8£.

Someone could tell me: "this is London mate, wake up!" But I am used to aperol spitz all around East London and for 8 quids it was ridiculously small and I made the point with the kind waitress, who politely apologised and she agreed with me.

So if asked, I would politely suggest to the Gotto management not to loose customers with this little details, which actually makes the difference. I left a bit disappointed and will not return for a spritz but will buy another icecream for my son. I hope my review ( avarage mark) can be understood as constructive for my italian fellow citizens running a business in...

So first things first, the food is great. Starters were just enough to whet the appetite, and the main event was well proportioned and tasty. Could have had more meat in the pork cheek pasta though. The problem we had was with the front of house staff. The first thing the gent behind the bar said to me was "couldn't contact the booking party to verify the table, so I'm not ready." There were 12 of us on a Sunday lunch @1pm. He continued to be grumpy for the rest of the afternoon. The trattoria was busy, nice day, outside tables. I suspect they were a bit short staffed. Took a while to get one of the waitresses to take our order (front of house gent was happy to delegate whilst he focused on being grumpy), but after that the drinks flowed and the food arrived in due course. Catching their attention throughout the meal was a challenge, so much so that at the end of our meal we started clearing up plates ourselves (front of house gent was somewhat surprised). When the bill arrived we were disappointed to note the 12% service charge added (no note on the menu), but we paid and left. Worth noting that they were very accommodating with our home baked birthday cake, so on balance, the restaurant had a good attitude let down by one individual on the day. Unlikely to be back as a group, but the food is good and location works...
