Read moreHackney Marshes is one of the few remaining wild places inside the North Circular - never mind the M25. It is a great place to walk as the complete ring covers around 10km. Part of the walk is along the Lea Navigation which is crowded with canal boats and part runs alongside the River Lea which at one time saw an invasion fleet of Viking Ships. The river also marks the frontier between King Alfred's Wessex and the Viking Controlled Danelaw controlled by the Danish Warlord Guthrum.

Read moreThis is my favourite place to walk the dog. Vast grassy area that turns into a number of football/cricket fields during the weekend is perfect for playing with the dog during the week. I also enjoy the almost wood-like area next to the Lea river bordering the football fields, it makes you feel like you're somewhere in the wilderness, not in the middle of a huge city. The only problem are the "presents" people leave in the bushes during the weekend, the smelly ones that my dog really loves to roll in.
