Shoreditch 'park' - keeps getting chopped and chopped... Which is a shame (and strange) as it is home to 100s and 100s of crows, 10s of dogs, and many green-space and fresh-air lovers. It started getting chopped during the first (COVID) lockdown, and then again and again - most recent chopping was in Jan 2025; --Hackney Council leaders must get such a good feeling from chopping green space; ruining homes of wild life, running playground area of dogs...
Many more dogs used to play there - now less and less. So many people used to run there, now rarely do you see any. *Why? Because following the park 'development' one cannot run for longer than 100 yards without risking of being run over by a bike. A significant part is chopped. And there is a lot of construction noise. And it is now surrounded by tall buildings.
With the new chopping of the park, they made space for three big towers of flats, but for that had to demolish the leisure centre and then rebuilt it, but this time in the park.
Then they build a bike station in the park. Then they removed the fence around on a few places. Then they allowed bikes to cut across in many ways, turning the park into a multi-road crossing. Then they chopped another bit near the school.
Unfortunately no one seems to have the power to protect that little...

Read moreI've been using Shoreditch park for about 50 years, it's been thru some changes in its layout , some of which are more useful than others and it now has a great big rusty steel button sculpture where once we played soccer, but it's a great park , in all weather's it's great in London to sit out and take in some light and air , great playpark for kids and space for everybody, once a year they have an annoying loud music festival and twice a year funfairs that charge a lot for rides. Bit the park lives on as long as we continue to use...
