Quite disappointed with our first ever visit here. It was my sisters 30th birthday and there were 5 of us eating this morning. Lovely guy in a blue tshirt took us to our table which was right by the door which was fine but it was absolutely freezing and the door kept being propped open by people waiting for a table. I ended up sitting with my scarf on and coat across my legs to try and stop the chill. He also asked if there were any allergies and I said yes coconut and tree nuts. He said absolutely fine he'd let the manager know.
The next waiter came over to take drinks orders and asked about allergies so I said again tree nuts and coconut and asked if I could have a drink with no Almond syrup in it. He then went over to the manager and said I had an almond and nut allergy (I can lip read)red flag. Manager came over and said I couldn't have that drink which was premixed which is absolutely fine and I told her that her waiter hadn't mentioned my coconut/tree nut allergy (different to a nut allergy!) and she was brilliant and told me what I could and couldn't haven't including what was actually used in the kitchen and bar - brilliant knowledge and felt very safe from then on.
French Toast was absolutely delicious and hot, pancakes were lukewarm, as was my husband's meal, poached eggs absolutely rock solid. Potatoes delicious. Drinks absolutely great. Husband couldn't have a milkshake as they said they had just run out of ice cream.
The staff looked so frazzled and were rushed off their feet, they did apologise repeatedly for the delays in drinks coming (came after we'd started food). We also asked for the bill as we weren't having more drinks and it wasn't brought but the waiter came to say they needed the table back (we'd only been there an hour and hadn't finished drinks) so we asked again for the bill and that took a while.
The atmosphere in the place was great, toilets clean, good music and really lovely vibe, would definitely like to go back and try it again but not at the table by the door.
Before anyone asks - no we didn't say anything about the cool food or the hard eggs at the time because the staff literally were running round and we didn't want to make more work FOR them, or spoil my sister's occasion, but I'm sure they would have tried...

I hadn't visited The Breakfast Club Hoxton in quite some time, with my last memories pre-dating the pandemic. Those memories were filled with incredible brunch experiences, great food, a warm atmosphere, and the seemingly inevitable queue outside.
Today, I was surprised, and initially pleased, to see no queue. I assumed I was in for a treat. However, walking in to find the place nearly empty at 1pm was my first inkling that things had changed.
Scanning the menu, I was taken aback by the prices - it felt like they had almost doubled. With the current economic climate and rising inflation, I could see why that is happening to the UK.
I ordered the Fried Chicken Benedict at a whopping £16. The portion was reasonable, but the bread was as hard as a rock, a clear indication of having been frozen and hastily defrosted in microwave.
When my £6 berries smoothie arrived in what appeared to be a small water glass, I even had to check with the staff if it was the right serving size. It tasted great, but the enjoyment was overshadowed by the thought of the cost per sip, which each sip would be the price of a happy meal.
On a positive note, the staff were very attentive and did their best under the circumstances. But it's no surprise that the place was so quiet - mediocre food quality coupled with inflated prices is a recipe for failure.
Regrettably, The Breakfast Club Hoxton is not the place I fondly remember. I would struggle to recommend it now, given my recent experience. What a...
