Visited Monday 12th June to see Chappell Roan. A lovely, queer, inclusive artist with local drag supports.
I had my first ever seizure at the big age of 26 and fractured my skull from the 6 foot fall. I had 4 G&Ts over 4 hours, a total of 5.2 units and I can handle my drink so was not paralytic by any means.
Anyway that happened just before the supports and the lovely bouncer put me into the recovery position by kicking me in the eye (with I presume a steel capped boot?). Anyway, I now have potentially permanent sight damage on top of the seizure scare thanks to them.
In the waiting room (waiting for the ambulance) they kept nagging my partner to chase the ambulance despite the incident occuring at 8:30 and the venue closing at 11...whilst I was bleeding out my skull and vomiting profusely. Treated her like she was drunk when she's teetotal and acted like we were the bloody problem.
Also pushed my partner into signing a waiver absolving them of responsibility despite it being the worst night of our lives.
Some support... ANY SUPPORT would have been nice.
Coming from Brighton where everyone looks out for each other I can't believe this vibe, truly rank
Fun fact! They don't have a defibrillator on site which I'm sure is against some law or regulation somewhere. Got told to go to Tesco "just in case" lmfao.
Problems start with management, I genuinely can't blame the venue staff, if it's rotten at this many levels it's rotten from the top down.
Fix it or keep failing those who aren't typically able, that'll be a sustainable business model! One quick look at other reviews shows a common theme, creepy bouncers, rude staff, lack of disability access - don't go if you're not 100% physically able or you're an afterthought, if you actually have a health struggle in the venue they'll kick you in the head and rip your clothes off you whilst you have a seizure on...
Read moreWhat a disgrace this place is ...... We as a couple made an effort from Dorking Surrey to be there prompt. Gig was supposed to start at 19:00 We got entered at 20:10 while show is already started. There was still at least 50 people behind us. I asked the managers why so late they said band arrived late but then why start without the people queuing up for an hour ?????
Then the security guy at gate BARKS at us let go of water we brought to keep hydrated as Reviews says its a hot and intense place.
Then we spent £110 on the bar between us and friends with £30 tips.
As i walked out of the the premises with less than quarter of a pint which i paid £8 for .... Stephen ( Nepalise looking guy ) yet again barks at me to bin it .... I mean seriously???? I would have done that but there is a civil way of asking that.
I sacrificed £300 off work to be there and spent over £150 at the premises just to get abused???.
A big NO NO in the future.. Would never ever come back to these premises ever again...
Absolute disgrace to people who make such an effort just to make sure economy goes around and these brainless people ruins the whole experience just because they are given a DOOR SUPERVISOR SECURITY BADGE.
WE ARE ABSOLUTELY GUTTED TO MAKE SUCH AN EFFORT JUST TO GET ABSURD AT THE DOORS...
Read moreRelentless Garage is a relatively small music venue tucked away just north of Islington. As the name would suggest, it's sponsored by Relentless energy drinks and those naturally have a large presence behind the bar (ie...a jaeger bomb will not be made with red bull but the Relentless equivalent). Given the small space, it will be bloody loud no matter where you are so be prepared to be fully absorbed in the music as talking will more or less be impossible once the band gets going.
The acoustics are pretty decent given the layout and the sound crew take centre stage. It's actually pretty cool to see them do their stuff while you wait for the warm up acts to get out of the way. I think the bar is cash only (not 100% sure on that) so it's worth hitting the cash point outside before you get in.
The only other thing I'd want to point out is that as it tends to be lesser known indie bands, you get a wide age range, in particular some of the younger kids who don't know their limits yet. Be wary of the jail bait stealing drinks from wide-eyed teenagers and then puking in a corner. You don't want...
