My husband and I came here as children and wanted to bring our daughter; we really wish we hadn't bothered! We were asked to wait in the cafe as the pool was too busy (understandable as it was in the middle of the easter half term) but as there were only about 6 tables, we had to sit on the floor, which wasn't great as my 10 month old also needed a little snack. The changing rooms were difficult to navigate (we needed a baby change, the "family changing" signs sent us in a circle and none of the doors were labelled as such), the floors were filthy as no over-shoes were provided, the cubicles were tiny and ceilings felt very low (I'm only 5'7" and I could have easily touched the roof). On entering the pool area, it was obvious it had been dramatically downsized which was a huge disappontment; we remember a tropical theme, jet pools, wave machine, fountains and at least 3 pools. This has now been reduced to one pool, a slide, the wave machine and no theme. The centre had obviously been updated, it's a shame they neglected the pool area; the signs were mouldy, paint on the walls and slide peeling away and the tiled floor of the pool had shifted so the tiles weren't smooth and kept cutting into my knees and feet. There was also a strong smell of chlorine which my husband said was stinging his eyes. Normally we can stay in a pool with our little one for about 45-60 mins but we decided to get out after 20 mins as we were so shocked at the state of the pool area and were concerned about the chlorine content in the water. After showering myself and my daughter (in a shower area that had shower heads less than 2 feet apart, under a luke-warm trickle of water), I noticed that the changing room floor was very uneven underfoot and with wet feet and a slippery baby, it didn't feel very safe. I didn't once see anyone cleaning the changing area or at least mopping the floor (which was a shock as at my local pool there seems to always be someone with a mop in their hand). We've decided we won't be visiting the centre again as we felt more money had been put into increasing the gym facilities than the pool, which had given us such fond memories, has been very neglected (even the lifeguards didn't...
Read moreMalvern Splash is a great community leisure centre. They offer a wide variety of different classes (especially recently introducing the new Aqua Power Class on Wednesday evenings) the pool timetable has lots of choice for swimming sessions and the sauna and steam room is an added bonus. All the staff at the centre are friendly and are always happy to help. The Gym/Fitness team have an amazing wide range of knowledge to help you achieve your fitness goals and they are always on hand to give motivational advice.
The Reception team also do an amazing job by making everyone feel welcome. They professionally deal with customer enquires and also deliver a fantastic service on their cafe. The receptionists are often jumping from face to face customer enquires to telephone enquires to email enquires while also serving food and drinks on the cafe - but yet they always have a smile on their face)
The staff also work very hard to keep the facilities clean and tidy. A special thank you to the lifeguards (if it wasn’t for them the pool could not open) who have to stand on pool in the humidity and do a fantastic job at keeping the pool a safe environment for everyone. They not only have to keep concentration doing their lifeguarding duties they also then have to keep the toilets and changing rooms clean which seems like a tough battle with customers coming in and out of the centre all day. Everyone who uses the facilities at Malvern Splash are also responsible for keeping the community leisure centre a clean and happy...
Read moreRemembered coming here when I was younger and loving it, so thought I’d bring my 3 year old boy down last weekend. First thing we noted was the water was quite cold, especially for the younger kids. My boys teeth were chattering pretty much the entire time we were here, despite keeping him moving around. Me and my partner both also noted the water was VERY salty which you wouldn’t expect in a public pool unless the water levels were not quite right. Both me and my partner have since been struggling with very itchy blistering skin etc so I think the water chemical levels may need looking at. Never had a reaction to other swimming pool water, and we swim regularly at various different places. Also never experienced such salty water before with any other public pool we have visited. Water chemicals and cold water aside, it was otherwise a lovely visit. My son thoroughly enjoyed the big slide and we were happy he could ride on our lap despite his age. He also loved the water play as well, and loved the floats. He also loved jumping over the waves in the shallow end. If the water chemical levels and the very cold water were addressed then I’d definitely rate much higher, these just unfortunately have...
