After reading the 1* reviews I won’t be coming to the theatre HOWEVER in its defence why do people complain about the price of drinks, or how long it takes to get served? If you want to get drunk go to a pub! Why do they need to consume alcohol to watch a play? Or run out at half time to guzzle down more and moan about how long it takes for them to get their hands on some more alcohol before the show starts again…. Then have the audacity to complain about the long queue at the loos…….um hello? Because you’ve all been scoffing alcohol? How sad does one have to be that they can’t even watch a play without consuming some sort of mind bending liquid and then to complain further that they cannot take their alcohol in with them to watch the show is appalling!! Who’s going to clear up that mess of spilt alcohol on the floor or dregs and dribbles when you put your plastic glass on the floor? Who’s going to pick up all those glasses and bottles and mopup the dregs? Some of us don’t want to sit next to beer n wine breath thanks!! If you want drinks n sweets for your kids bring them and don’t go to the bar!! Anyone paying £11 for a large glass of wine then complaining that they can’t pre order more for the interval has a serious problem and is probably better suited to an intravenous bottle tbh!! As for the woman who has mobility issues who was complaining that there was no staff to help her…..may i suggest you either bring your own help or wait!! In todays world you’re not entitled to any help or special treatment above someone else, it’s not the staff fault that you didn’t bring someone to help you in to the theatre, they’re on minimum wage, over worked and your issues are not on their list of things to do!! I don’t understand why people with mobility “issues” expect to be treated above anyone else, bring a walker seat and wait till someone has time to help!! It’s funny how I see the disability spaces all taken up but NEVER EVER see anyone with any sort of disability …. Not even a limp or a stick in sight in the shop (yes yes I know they’ve all got a hidden disability meaning they have full use of arms n legs and the reason they need to park closer than anyone else is hidden) lots of unnecessary one stars here if people didn’t need to drink alcohol EVERYWHERE they go and mums didn’t need to feed their kids huge bags of sweets most one stars would be gone. The reason I’m not coming is it’s cold, the sound is poor, the unfriendly staff and apparently the quality of the show is awful, but as for the drinkers moaning about the bar queue…….get a life, try at least one show...
Read moreAs the Theatre is being renovated, the signage to the different screens isn't clear. We gave ourselves plenty of time and still had to walk around the whole building before having to ask for directions. We went to watch the Seagull. It was one of those night you would call a "Special treat". To say the least it was a huge disappointment, nothing like the description on the pamphlet. The room was freezing cold, even colder than our grade one listed house and this is saying a lot. Our house is always freezing cold. The staff weren't awfully friendly. When my dad explained the signage could be better, the staff was rather argumentative saying " but this is the room X" and the proceeded to say "tickets please" in what I thought was a shouty manner. If you were to address a senior member, it would be nice to address them with a better tone i.e. I am sorry to hear the signage was confusing, I will pass the comments to... and rest assured we will try and improve on this. Then, could you kindly provide me with your tickets, please? Not the customer service experience I was expecting. I am sad to say the quality of this theatre has really gone down, far from the previous service offered and the service we receive from the Courtyard in Hereford. To say the least we left after half time. We would much like to support local businesses, but sadly not under these circumstances. I don't feel inclined to go back anytime soon. For some it is a fair sum to pay for a night out, but I reckon many will divert to watching something from the comfort of...
Read moreMy partner and I went to see Nigel Kennedy on a Tuesday night. The venue was busy as there was also a show in the other theatre, but this cannot excuse the absolute bedlam and incompetence at the bar.
My partner wanted a drink before the show so I bought him a large glass of Malbec - £11. Yes, ELEVEN POUNDS. Surprisingly undeterred, we enquired about ordering interval drinks which is a service I have used previously, only to be told that they were not taking orders that night "because we don't know how long the first half is" - what a load of nonsense, it took me 10 seconds to Google the pieces to find out how long they were. So in the interval the queues at the bar were massive, but I waited patiently right up until the time when the barman serving our queue abandoned his post and simply vanished without any explanation leaving the rest of the queue unable to be served. A lot of people were rightfully very angry, and the people in other queues didn't fare much better because the bar staff were so slow and didn't seem to know their jobs. To put this into context, we travel to concert halls and opera houses throughout the UK and Europe, many of which serve more people at far smaller bars, and never have we encountered the sort of chaos and absolute disregard for simple hospitality that we did at Malvern Theatres. It was shameful and someone needs to be brought in to...
