The fort itself is very small and very overgrown at the top so you can’t really see much of it. You can only see through this locked, gated door at the front. I won’t worry about stopping there next time but it was right by the car park so I had a quick visit while I was there anyway.

It's a shame that this interesting piece of history isn't better maintained. It would be nice to be able to go inside it and wander around - or at the very least - some lighting inside.

A great day out! The hills are very steep, and the stairs are not for the faint-hearted! Lol But the views once you get to the top are so beautiful

This is free and totally accessible. A beautiful napoleononic era fort, that’s been mostly well looked after apart from some vandalism.

Great attraction to walk past and admire in your way to the top of the hill.

It’s right behind the visitor centre which is usually heaving with people, but this place is usually very quiet, so come and enjoy it and...

In the late 70s I was at school at Box Hill. In those days the fort was unlocked and free to walk around. We would walk down the steps and through a very narrow corridor and then come back out the other side. All very wet, pitch black...
