Puckpool Battery is a battery located at Puckpool Point, close to the town of Ryde on the Isle of Wight. It is one of the many Palmerston Forts built on the island to protect it in response to a perceived French invasion. Construction of the battery began in 1863 and was completed by March 1865.

I love Puckpool park, I have been going there since I was a child and the old battery has always fascinated me, I remember when I was a child in the 1980's there was an aquarium inside one of the old bunkers which was free to enter, now long gone, but the memories away flood back every time I see the old battery especially since the remains of the aquarium are still there to this day visible though the bars of a locked gate. Last visited a few years ago and it has IMO gone downhill. Tree and other plant roots are growing between the concrete forcing the structure apart. Parking meters were temperamental either worked or didn't, trying to get them to accept cash was so slow, trying to pay by card was a hit and miss due to internet connection of meter. Paying by phone was similar. Very nice cafe on Solent front. Vista is now almost nil due to trees and other bushes. Not a relaxing visit due to children on BMX/mountain bikes having constructed tracks where public walk and not polite when we were trying to...
