I love Puckpool park, I have been going there since I was a child and the old battery has always fascinated me, I remember when I was a child in the 1980's there was an aquarium inside one of the old bunkers which was free to enter, now long gone, but the memories away flood back every time I see the old battery especially since the remains of the aquarium are still there to this day visible though the bars of a locked gate. The war time history of Puckpool Battery is nicely explained and illustrated on signs around the structures which you are free to explore at your own leisure. Read moreLast visited a few years ago and it has IMO gone downhill. Tree and other plant roots are growing between the concrete forcing the structure apart. Parking meters were temperamental either worked or didn't, trying to get them to accept cash was so slow, trying to pay by card was a hit and miss due to internet connection of meter. Paying by phone was similar. Very nice cafe on Solent front. Vista is now almost nil due to trees and other bushes.
