Early morning walk with the dog. Peaceful. The Groundsman was already picking up the last of the litter from the day before, leaving the well-tended grass immaculate. Smooth, generous paths suitable for wheelchair users and those of us needing to use walking aids. Very well-kept fenced-in children's area with a good amount of activity equipment with seats for parents. There are a number of different exercise machines for adults in the main recreation area, a covered area for music groups, etc. - I've even seen it used for group exercise. There are skateboard and BMX areas. Plenty of benches around the recreation ground and a War Memorial set in a pleasant area fronting the road. There are sponsored planters with some beautiful flowers - including some maintained by pupils of nearby Arnewood School.
Important for dog walkers, there are plenty of dog waste bins - also Public Conveniences for the human walkers!
A great social resource in New Milton, well maintained and well...
Read moreAn excellent Skatepark for Skateboards, BMX and Scooters, complete with a decent complete bowl section. Ideal for most ages and levels of experience. There is a really good park for younger children and 2 really good small football pitches / basketball courts for 5-a-side style games with very good goal set-up (see photos). My children love these pitches. Free parking at the side of the park next to the basketball / 5-a-side football pitches.
Note: Beware of local teenagers swearing in abundance if you are taking young children there. Its pure cringe and problematic when having to address local 7 year olds to teenage ages of not using the 'F' and 'C' words at eachother in front of your innocent children (that you've probable try to protect them from hearing such disgusting language). Clearly this day and age it's unavoidable but when you are trying to bring your own children up the correct and polite way and delay the inevitable, it gets very tiring addressing this...
