The Garden Cafe — Restaurant in New Forest

Having arrived on the train from Portsmouth for an appointment. Had time for some breakfast. Arrived in cafe approx 11am. Order taken promptly and hot drinks served. We waited and waited for our food. Several other customers came in after us and had their food before us! My partner, who has worked in a busy hotel restaurant, could see the orders being moved about on the wall in the kitchen. Chef was prioritising other orders? Washing up was being done, tables were being cleared as other customers were awaiting to pay. Only one person was using the till. Decided to stop at a cafe with my husband and toddler. No atmosphere to the place, which wasn't an issue. The service was okay, although struggled to hear the server due to her losing her voice, which again is t their fault. The issue was the food. £6.90 for a kids meal and it was a ridiculous portion. £2.90 for a bacon roll that had a cheap bun with hardly any bacon to it. A slice of cake is just under £5 and wasn't finished due to how dry it was.

I love this place! I come here every week. I don't even have to order as they remember my order and prepare my food very quickly. You can always get a seat, the premesis is always spotlessly clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and attentive and the food always excellent. They reinvest into the business and keep standards very high. An excellent menu (even though I always have the same thing) and some good value 'specials' on the board. Park in the car park behind Morrisons and it is a two minute walk. Cannot recommend...
