BE VERY CAREFUL or be VERY DISAPPOINTED......... It demonstrates on their leaflet which also gives you a pound reduction on presentation which makes it actually £26.80...for the two of us.....that it has the largest model railway set up in the world...and as a Model Railway enthusiast that's where it ended .....as that is what we expected a set of Modelled Railway Layouts to Exhibition Standards for the admission charged,...and in all essence this is what they had VERY poorly attempted to do....in my opinion NOT WORTH THE ADMISSION what so ever ....more in line to a Children's Train Set and PlayHouse..
This is.,NOT for serious modelling or anyone into serious layout design or construction in my opinion...Who ever built these layouts had no idea, no artist value or methodology for realism it was as it seems to me Super Quick cardboard buildings plus other items all in "Prestine" condition like the track like the locos like everything else going round in an oval track system and all the story piled in the centre of the layout with no imagination what so ever so contrived. and at the price we paid is ...totally extortionate in my opinion . Example The Alpine scene was an absolute joke who in their modelling skill set would attempt that...only the ones who put this shambles together....... 1.the mountains were absolutely ridiculous all like ruptured triangles all going to a point made of what ever medium with a white tip.....looked more like an ice cream cone... utterly ridiculous....how do I know........ I lived in Bonigen Nr Interlaken in the Bernese Oberland amongst the Swiss Alps ....if I had paid £2 then I would have burst out laughing but not at the extortionate price being charged. There were lots of gaming PC machines puppets etc .....ideal for Children and their were lots of children their too, which was great enjoying themselves, as this setup is what in my opinion ideally for young children....it's a CHILDREN'S PLAY HOUSE......in my opinion you don't get to see the shambolic items till you've paid your fee
....YOU HAVE...
Read moreWe booked this knowing my son would probably love it - we wasn't wrong...! We booked tickets via a promotion which made the admission fee far cheaper - for the four of us on usual prices we were looking close to £60, which is a bit of a pricey day out. It's worth looking online for vouchers, for example the visit Norfolk has 20% off, we got ours via Planet Offers which was closer to half price.
The Miniature World is located in some industrial units, with plenty of parking outside. There are various displays of model railway, a scalatrix track, lego display, flight / train sim (PC), and some arcade emulators. There is also an area with old seaside amusements, this was an extra charge £1 for 12 old pennies.
The kids loved looking round all the models, and my daughter enjoyed doing the activity sheet. There were a few buttons for them to press, and it would have been nice for them to have a few more set up where you can get involved but can appreciate thats easier said than done!
We probably spent about 2.5 / 3 hours here in total, and possibly would have spent longer but it was very cold (we wrapped up in coats!) My wife and I did need to break for a warm drink at one point before trying to finish the lego figure hunt with my daughter (very determined to finish this she was!)
It's also worth looking round the shop before you leave, unlike some attractions I thought the prices were very reasonable for some items. (Yes, I came away with a few little goodies...!)
Well worth a visit, especially if you / your kids love looking and watching model railways etc. Just make sure you take a look round for an offer to get yourself a few quid off... which you can then spend when you get there on...
Read moreOur family visited here for our second visit during our annual holiday in Norfolk. It's very well run and carry for and there is plenty for children to do whilst here. There are different train set-ups throughout with working model trains continually running around the well-built model towns and villages. There is a treasure hunt included and you can try to spot the different things throughout the many models. There is a large Lego section with many different builds. This includes towns with characters placed throughout. There is a small game zone where you can play some pre-loaded electronic games on old Nintendo, PlayStation and retro arcade machines. There are some flight simulators and train driving simulators too. These are also fun to play. Included is a ln old penny arcade with lots of different penny games to play. You can use the machine to get 20 old pennies for £1 ). My children loved the games as they were so different to what they are used to. When we visited this time, there was a double decker bus inside with Matchbox cars presented. There were hundreds of small cars in there amd you can visit both decks of the bus to look through the cars. There is a small cafe at the site but we have not used this before as we normally bring a picnic and walk into Wroxham to eat by the water. There is free parking here with plenty of spaces too. We prevook every year but I think you would also be fine to just turn up and pay. It's a lovely, small and well-looked after place to visit. As mentioned before my children have really enjoyed every visit over the past few years. They were 8 and 10 years old this year and still...
