Don't use the photo of the menu - I posted it to prove that it is out of date. Food good, location good BUT had quite a negative experience here today. Ordered food at takeaway on main road and sent kids to find a bench to sit at overlooking the water. They found a table and seating on the terrace at the back of the takeaway. Other people sitting here were eating out of cardboard takeaway boxes so we assumed it was for anyone who had purchased their food. We enjoyed the meal and picked up a basket of sauces from another table. Immediately a girl appeared saying 'you're aware you're sitting in the restaurant area which has different prices'. We apologised because we had failed to see the small sign to that effect and agreed to pay the difference. We had bought a small cod, two savaloys, two plain jumbo sausages, two portions of chips and three cans of soft drinks for £22.50. The waitress said we needed to pay another £9.60 which I thought was extortionate... As there was no menu on our table I checked the online menu and it didn't come anywhere near so I queried it. The girl checked with her boss and we were told they'd actually charged us less than they should have! It appears that the menu on their Google page (see photo) is very out of date (the main course fish and chips in the restaurant now costs £10.15 - a £3.35 increase). I felt that the customer service was sorely lacking on this occasion and will not be returning again despite using this place a few times in previous years. I felt quite sorry for the young lady who had been left to deal with our complaint when I believe the manager should have done so. Update after reading owner's response - we made a genuine mistake by sitting in an area to eat where others were eating from what appeared to be cardboard takeaway boxes. The signage was not clear. As a business owner I would have thought that the online menu on Google (first port of call for many people) should be regularly checked and updated, as you would ensure business hours are correct for example. But worst of all is the accusation that we stole drinks. We paid for all our food and drinks at the takeaway counter. The only exception was three sachets of tartare sauce (perhaps you can offset this as I actually drank my drink on the pavement while waiting for the food so it should never have been taken into consideration for a price increase anyway). And at no time did anyone say we hadn't paid specifically for drinks - the wording was 'actually I've charged you less than I should have' which I took as a bit of an appeasement, not an expectation that I would have to pay even more. I left a three-star review as the food and location were good and a detailed account of my experience so that others could make their own minds up and not make the same mistakes of sitting in the wrong place and checking an old menu that we did. And I made it clear to the girl that it wasn't a personal criticism of her.

Updated post 22.04.20 As an NHS Volunteer, I’m fully aware of the risks this pandemic poses, hence this post. Such a shame you won’t listen to or action constructive feedback which would minimise the risks to your customers. The very fact you feel the need to criticise my intellect says more about you than you’ll ever understand. I can assure you that you had some very irate customers that night outside your shop – I was out there in the cold listening to them - if you were to listen to your customers, then you’d realise this. You say you warned your customers about the long wait, well I can assure you I wasn’t warned about this, and if had been told, I’d have gone over the road to Greys. Post from 20.04.20 Even though I phoned up to pre-order 2 fish n chips & pre-paid, and was given a time to collect (1 hr from phoning) i still had to wait at least 1/2hr outside the shop... the whole point of pre-ordering is to avoid standing beside the dozen other unhappy customers outside the shop for 1/2hr with the current risks. Suggest you be more realistic with your collection times to reduce the risks to your customers. These are very serious times and whilst I want to support local businesses during these hard times, I’m not prepared to risk my health. Also one of the 2 medium fish portions was tiny (smaller than the palm of my hand)

BEST CHIP SHOP IN NORFOLK! Popped in after work to grab some food for the family. The Cod and Cod bites were perfect! I managed to take a photo of my sausage and chips but unfortunately I was too slow to photograph the other meals as they’ve been devoured. I am shocked at the other nonsensical reviews complaining about prices. Compared to other chip shops, the take-away is on par (if not cheaper) than others. Seemingly they don’t understand that restaurants charge more. Staff were polite and constantly chatting to other customers and myself as we waited for the fish to be cooked. ALSO! Paid on card which is a so much easier. Been going to Ken’s for years and never made a review but after seeing all of these ridiculous reviews it’s about time. Thank you Michael and the team. I’m going to have a nap now.

Myself and my family ordered food to take away for our evening meal. I wanted a chicken burger and this appeared to be an slightly larger chicken nugget and I was charged an extra £1 for the luxury of a role. This I would not have minded so much had the role not been covered in mould on the inside…. which I did not notice until halfway through my food when a large piece of mould fell on my plate. Additionally the service was slow. I won’t be returning here again.

Update: My husband came in, as did my Dad and brother in law. They made 3 separate orders but were all together in the take away. Apologies I did not make this specifically clear. This is my one and only review as I have never before had to complain about having mouldy food in any other place I have eaten. I have no reason to lie and find it highly amusing that some one would come online and attack people in this way for their negative review. Your time would be better spent paying more attention to the food you are serving. Is it beyond the realms of possibility that you had a packet of bread with mould in it? No. Is it possible that some one did not take the time to check it properly before serving? Yes.

I could not phone the take away as by the time they got back to my location in Horning and was halfway through my food, you were already closed.

You’re attitude in response speaks volumes about the respect you have for your customers. I have read your other reviews and feel as though, had you been open I would not have wanted to contact you directly any way because of the way in which you react and respond to criticism.

Update 2: HD footage of a bread role? Excellent. Please could you pop a picture up then? I’ve never heard of a chip shop with such high tech recording systems to check for mould on bread. I wouldn’t waste my time to come in a speak with you now as you seem so hell bent on calling me a liar. My husband came in with my father and brother in law as I stated before. I have fictionalised no one for the sake of a review.

Also my account has been live on here for many years and as said, I have felt no need to complain before.

The fact you feel the need to come on here and attack people for a review in the way you do is utterly ridiculous. Check your receipts, cameras and whatever else you need to, I still had mouldy food. End of...

Good afternoon, before I post a Google review I thought I would give you the chance to respond to our disappointing fish & chip dinner purchased 11/08/2025 😒Contacted you prior to posting this review but had no reply back unfortunately

We have used Kens for around 10+ years not regularly but whenever we have been in Wroxham. (own our own boat kept at Stalham) and found the food normally very tasty and the fish of a decent portion with nice flakes of cod!! Yesterday on the way back from Coltishall we moored near the viaduct and deliberate d whether we had Indian, Chinese or fish supper (wish we had chosen Chinese now!!) anyway we decided on fish supper as we both said your fish and chips cooked in beef dripping are normally lovely!! Ordered cod, chips x2 mushy peas and wally £29 after a 20min wait for them we wandered back to the boat to consume paper unwrapped and the first thing my wife said look at that a tiny portion of chips and the thinnest piece of cod ever!!!! On opening mine I must say the portion size was better but the cod wasn't that nice as looked like it had been overcooked as some of the batter and fish was a tad hard!!! Chips were OK ish, service in the shop was OK ish although the girl who took our order asked 4 times if we required salt & vinegar even after the first time we had said yes please!! Have standards dropped? We asked ourselves? We use Fred at Broadland chippy regularly and never had a bad supper from there!!! And at around £7 cheaper far better value for money than yours!!!

Over you you for your...
