This rating is primarily based on if you have children. If you're an adult, I would probably not recommend SC2 as there aren't enough areas to break away from the hustle and bustle of a water park atmosphere. There is pretty much no swimming pool, anywhere you stand in the pool the water will be no higher than your waist. There are a few perches where you can sit and have a jet of water hit your back, an attempt maybe at a breakout area.
For the kids there's lots to do, lots of water play activities including fountains, waterfalls, dams, water guns up high to shoot people below. As the park gets going and the large slides open for business, so do some of the other water features. They have water collectors up high and as these fill they drop releasing large amounts of water down onto people below. All great fun for the kids and they'll be able to spend hours here. I find it odd that the outside area doesn't open up more often as this would ease some space and allow a bit more variety for the punters. However, this only seems to open on weekends, probably due to costs of employing more life guards to monitor a large area.
The slides are good all round, a little annoying that one particular slide which is of medium size is children only. I would understand if the small slides were children only but the slide that's bang in the middle in terms of size being children only is very odd indeed. I have to send my 5 year old up there on his own and then go back down to the bottom to receive him, he's not good with being dropped under water at the end. The large slides are great fun and will be enjoyed by all who can ride, about 7 or 8 years upwards. Food on site and other activities like the tag active playground which we are yet to try.
There's one thing we found extremely strange, cctv in the changing rooms... This is legal and I presume would only be viewed in times of need. However, I saw no signs advising of cctv cameras in operation and only spotted them shortly after my wife had got changed and have bared all for the camera already. This is the first time I've experienced cctv in a sensitive area. Maybe this is how the world is evolving now, needless to say, I don't like it. Just select the right room when you go so that you don't feel like you're in full view.
Other than this, the kids had a whale of a time, had to pull them out of there on each visit. A very fun time all round, still a little pricey in my opinion. Price for a family of four is just under £50.00 and personally I feel this amount would warrant either a larger pool for adults or more slides than the 4 large ones on site and small child ones. It would probably hold more value if they had the outside area open more often, seems crazy to me that during the summer periods it isn't open on weeknights as well.

Read moreVery mixed views on the water park. Having paid nearly £70 for our family our initial experience was horrendous. Arrived after a 1.5 hour drive to find no parking spaces. Apparently this new facility does not have any dedicated parking, it’s a public car park that is so badly laid out that a muppet could have designed it better to get in more cars. Secondly it’s not clear whether you have to pay. We were told by locals you did and the machine pointed out which was in front of the cinema! A lot of frustrated people driving round to try and get a space and this is not yet a busy season! When we eventually got in the place having booked online we had a long wait behind barriers while the 1 person sorted out someone else’s general enquiries. We were then directed to the desk to be told lockers were a £5 returnable deposit which is fine IF you know in advance and have the means to pay. I researched long and hard prior to booking our family and nowhere did I see even more money required to pay for parking and lockers. Having eventually got past the parking and entry hurdles and feeling very stressed by this time we found the changing facilities excellent and staff were around to help with deciphering how to use the lockers. The water area itself was well controlled for numbers and needs to be as it is not that big! We had a 4 year old and toddler who was just 2 that week. The 4 year old loved it but found the slides daunting. Not that great for toddlers! The smaller slides WERE NOT dedicated to toddlers and parents WERE NOT allowed to sit with toddlers on the slides. We were constantly being told what you COULD NOT do when we were trying to get the little one used to the facilities. Some staff were quite embarrassed at the rules. Clearly the rules had been made by people who have no real understanding of babies and felt it was safer for toddlers to go on slides on their own than with a parent. Ours eventually after several hours tried a slide and hurt herself. Staff very apologetic but rules is rules no matter what! Having said all that we did have an enjoyable albeit a little more stressful than necessary day. SC2Rhyl you need to get your family pricing improved, your advertising more accurate and INCLUDE parking facilities in the...
Read moreCLOSED DOWN. Your response on August 29 to our initial review from August 13 (see below) misses the point. The water park was listed as open on Google Maps, which is why we visited. Your explanation about roof damage is misleading, as your staff at the entrance mentioned the closure was due to high utility costs, and most of your facility under the same roof is still open—we believe them. We have uploaded a screenshot, showing your inaccurate Google Maps listing on 13 August when we visited. Please update your information across all platforms to avoid wasting your customers' time and money, and thank you for your non-apology and attempts to shift the blame.
13 August 24. Hey guys… this water park place has been closed down for 8 months. Since January 2024. We visited today as the water park is clearly marked as open on google but when we arrived the staff at reception stated that it the water park facility had been closed since January, the receptionist informed us, it was presently unworthwhile opening, due to the high cost of the utilities, power etc, which is understandable. However, SC2, the receptionist, went on to explain, had neglected to mark up as temporarily closed on their google maps business listing because they need customers to visit in the hope that they use another part of their facility, instead of the water park. It cost us a wasted hour, fuel, £4.00 parking fee and one disappointed child. And all totally unnecessary… all SC2-Rhyl needed to do was mark as temporarily closed on google, we would have then been aware and we would not have visited in the...
