The Submariner Cookhouse + Pub — Restaurant in Wales

From the outside the place looked amazing. It looked like somewhere you could take the family and have a nice meal without the worry of trying to be too fancy. Upon arrival the staff was great and sat us down quickly with a smile, we were definitely excited. 2 for £9.99 on main courses cant go wrong but boy was we wrong. Once seated the staff ignored us completely. It wasnt too busy and when we looked we saw 4 members of staff chatting away when there were several customers waiting to be served, one couple were waiting 15 minutes to just order their drinks. It got to the point we had to call someone over, being sat for 15 plus minutes was getting to be a bit of a joke. Our waitress gave us a funny look when we did so. Our food definitely wasnt worth the wait. I ordered the prawn cocktail and then later the fish which neither had flavour, the fish didnt seem fresh at all. My friend ordered the patte which apparently was grand but later had the chicken which was just burnt and had little flavour. We didnt even bother with a dessert. I'd give the breakfast 5/5, but evening meal service was a bit poor, so 4/5 overall. The breakfast was probably the best I've had in recent times, very well cooked and very tasty. Great service too. Dinner was good, the starter was a bit awkward to eat given the small bowl it was delivered in. Main was very good, but the service was slow and no-one checked if the food was okay or if I wanted another drink. I guess it was a busy day, given there had been a rugby...

Cheap and cheerful, walked in off the street at a busy time and they served us. The waitress was brilliant, I think her name was Elise or something similar.
