So, the beach is lovely. Miles of open sand, not difficulty getting to it from the rather nice promenade.which is there.

There are a few cabins along the beach near the seaquarium that offer various beach goods, food and drink and are very reasonably priced.

There's a impressive looking indoor activity centre, which looks good, a live venue and exhibition centre on the shore and the seaquarium.

The little gardens are lovely and the ornamental bridge is great.

Then you turn around...

It's obvious, painfully so that all that money that was spent on the promenade did not filter through into Rhyl town.

The sea front road looks like something from a post apocalyptic film. Any building with multiple levels has Thier business on the ground floor and what can only be described as a collection of broken windows and boarded up holes in the upper floors.

It's a real shame that the place is in such a state of disrepair as my Mum always said it used to be lovely, which is why we went for the day. We lasted three hours, half of which was spent in the seaquarium.

Shame, but...

Ever thought it not peak season We had plenty to do. The parking was very reasonable and right next to the beach. A well concreted and long prominard which ment good access for wheelchair users to food and toilet facilities. My friend has a 8ft foil kite so when the tide went out it was perfect. There is a Sea life centre and if you love water slides and flumes the SC2 will open very soon. The shopping area is run down but we all found the people very polite and friendly. A visit to Lifeboat shop was a must to buy some goodies. Every penny counts. The man who ran the shop was interesting friendly and told us about a fab new faster boat that the station is getting. So anyone going don't take a inflatable the tides can be very dangerous and you can see the boat at the station. Dogs are aloud in areas and I saw lots of people rollerblading, hoverboarding, cycling with there dogs. I think a long weekend would be nice I sure there is lots more...

Outstanding sandy beach on a tranquil Welsh coastline and thought I would come back and visit today and had a really good experience I also visited Tuesday at high tide it nearly covers most of the beach and at low tide it goes out for miles leaving a couple of sandbanks be aware when the tide comes in you can be cut off easily so check the tide times before coming it was very quiet on the prom and lifeboat station right next to the beach brilliant beach for windsurfers very short walk from town centre and there is a few things to do in Rhyl like the cinema and aquarium amazing scenery at low tide an and had a brilliant experience paddling when I was here Tuesday at low tide as there was a fantastic sunset and loads of wind turbines offshore you can see in the distance there was toilets on the seafront but they were closed Sky tower is a great place for parking and only £3 all day much cheaper than places like Brighton...

Much like many UK seaside towns, I found Rhyl to be in desperate need of investment. All the houses and shops along the front are in prime position at a coastal town within walking distance to everything, but they all need a lick of paint. The beach itself is massive, long and wide but very stoney in parts but in others there is some luscious golden sand. I visited in June 24, and the weather was poor, but I still expected more places to be open in June. Couldn't get a cup of coffee along the seafront. However, the infrastructure is there for this to be an amazing seaside town, any maybe it is in the summer holidays, but a ghost town outside of them. Travel Lodge and Premier Inn right on the front, a pavilion and theatre with posters about for pantomime and shows with some celebrities guests. Arcades, shops, aquarium crazy golf all on the seafront.
