My partner and I recently participated in the Land Rover Experience at Rockingham Castle, and we had an absolute blast! Although I was hoping to drive the Defender 90, they didn’t have it available, so I ended up in the Defender 110, which proved to be a great fit for the day’s challenges.
One of the more exciting aspects for me was learning to use the 360-view camera—a feature I hadn’t experienced before. It added a new layer to off-roading, especially when navigating tight or tricky obstacles. It took some practice balancing between using the camera and keeping an eye on the road, but once I got the hang of it, it made navigating the terrain even more rewarding.
We tackled a wide range of terrains—everything from steep inclines, water crossings, and rock crawls. But the real thrill came with the axle twisters and side slopes. During the axle twist, the Defender tilted so much that I was convinced we were going to topple over, but the vehicle’s stability was impressive. The side slopes were equally exhilarating, with gravity tugging at one side while we carefully maneuvered through the course.
My partner, who was initially a bit reluctant to try the off-roading experience, gave it a go—and was so glad she did! By the end, she had just as much fun tackling the challenges as I did.
Our instructor, Mitch, was incredibly knowledgeable and made sure we felt comfortable every step of the way. His instructions were clear and easy to follow, which made the experience both fun and educational.
From start to finish, the experience was top-notch. The combination of challenging terrains, new technology, and the guidance from Mitch made this day one to remember. Whether you're a first-time driver or a seasoned off-roader, the Land Rover Experience offers something...
Read moreI booked a Full day experience for myself and my dad for a birthday present, We were greeted at the door by the instructors all of them friendly and eager to get all the people out of the course. Our instructor for the day was Andrew. He was confident, funny and very knowledgeable on the features of my own range rover and when we were out on the course he was great, explaining everything , complimentary and pushing myself and my dad to new levels of control on the various mounds, the wall of death and the peanut! We had a cracking day, full of laughter, banter and learning how to use the features on the Defender 110 which was just awesome. We went to a local pub for lunch which is apart of the full day experience, food was home made quick and very good. I would say that half a day would leave you with wanting to do more so would advise if you have a complimentary half day from Land Rover book another half day so you get to enjoy all of the features and learn what the vehicle is capable of and have time to go through the water and experience some of the other tracks like we did. Very well organised and would recommend to anybody even if they just wanted to learn the features on their own vehicle. Well...
Read moreGot a half day voucher when we bought our Range Rover. The experience was great, the course was brilliant. Removing 1 star coz of the instructor. An instructor can make or break a great experience. He was knowledgeable about the track and the car, but lacked customer ethics. Firstly he called me a random name of his liking, which I had to correct him. He then did the same to the other occupant. Secondly, either it was his first time as an instructor or was just arrogant, as he asked me to take a left when the road curved right, and then made fun of me coz he wanted me to take a sharp left. When there are 2 left turns, an instructor needs to be precise on his directions. Finally, he was treating the car as his precious. He kept asking me to slow down when I was going 4 mph down hill! Who in his right mind goes 2mph on a off road down hill track? Specifically when it was my 3rd time doing the same slope Ina span of an hour. He was so controlling about the little things, like don't touch the grass, don't go above 3mph, that the other occupant was put off and decided not to have a go....
