Chequered Flag — Restaurant in England

Came in here for a birthday meal and left totally disappointed.

Food was adequate at best. Most of it was lukewarm and it wasn’t particularly busy in there either to excuse this.

The staff are not attentive at all and actually quite rude. A member of staff delivering the food dropped half of my plate on the table and said “oh shit, sorry” with no offer to replace any that had fell.

We had to ask a few times just for napkins, there was none available in the self-serve cutlery and sauce cabinet. We finally did get some… Hurrah!

When bringing out our meals, we were also told to be quicker by one waitress in saying which meal belonged to who in quite a rude tone. If the food is burning your hands - perhaps you should think about this as health and safety before berating guests for taking less than 30 seconds to point out who ordered which meals.

We walked in and were welcomed to absolute chaos with no real order to finding our booked table; just one member of staff shouting at us to ask if we had a booking. She was generally unhelpful but did show us to our table - and did not return for basically the rest of the time we were there. Nobody asked if our food was okay - truthfully it was cold and not great - but this speaks to the rudeness of the staff at this place. We felt like a burden by spending our money there.

Overall, it was an awful meal with a terrible atmosphere in a very dated restaurant/pub. I would not return...

We were a party of 6 on Easter Bank Holiday Monday 18th April to celebrate my husbands birthday with family. We ordered our drinks online and waited for approximately 15 minutes for them to arrive. Our food we ordered at the bar and waited a further 30 minutes which we wouldn’t have minded if the food was good. We all had either steak or burgers but none was very nice. The rump steaks were very difficult to cut due to them being fairly stringy and sinewy, mine should’ve been blue but was rare at best. The burgers were dry and tasteless so even the kids left them. When we had finished the meal my daughter ordered 3 more cokes online but these took so long to arrive, almost 20 minutes we were actually getting ready to leave. Needless to say they were all flat with no fizz at all because they had been sitting on the side all that time waiting to be delivered to us. The drinks problem were caused by their being extremely under staffed behind the bar but as to the quality of the food, well I just don’t know but we won’t be rushing back which is a shame because we tended to eat there fairly...

I attended tonight with my lad who's 19. We arrived at 18:39 which is 6 mins before the time written on the poker banners inside the pub which all say 18:45. I asked some guys who where standing around where to register we where pointed in the right direction only to be told we where too late and registration CLOSED at 18:30.....which obviously I asked where that was made clear as the advertisement said 18:45 and no other information which is obviously poor..... So when I asked is that it then no poker the guy said not this week to which I just left, as I had my back turned he said something about next week, I said not to worry as I don't think I'll be back...... Honesty, they had three or four tables setup and it didn't seem that busy. Hospitality stinks to be honest.

Anyway, not sure if it's Checkered Flags fault or not but it happened in your establishment so you're getting the negative review.

I suggest for for the £40 it costs I'd get your advertisement boards updated to say registration closes at 18:30 and not some random time that means nothing to people who...
