We had such a lovely stay.. initially a 1 night stay.. a gift voucher from relatives... after a poor experience in London recently, we were enjoying the facilities and customer service here from the start. The reception and public areas are light, spacious and clean. When we entered the room we noticed 4 uht full fat milk on tray... we asked a member of staff cleaning the room opposite if we could swap to semi skimmed .. she didn't bat an eyelid and went to get us replacements. The room was large, airy and well equipped (including a proper nespresso coffee makingI machine and pods). After we checked in a large party of line dancers checked in for the weekend, we were advised to avoid 6.00-7 30 for dinner in restaurant, the restaurant usually opens at 6.30, but 7.30 is too late for us to eat for a number of reasons.. we explained these to Claire on reception who spoke to the Chef and we were so grateful he allowed us to to eat early at 5 30.. so for much of our meal we had the dining room to ourself .. the Chef himself came our to serve hubby's sticky toffee pudding and was very engaging and friendly.. when we thanked him for serving us early he said they will try to accommodate requests when asked. The food was delicious! During the evening we realised both that we needed an extra pillow each and that because we were enjoying stay so much we'd like to stay longer.. I spoke to Carmen on reception.. she bought extra pillows to our room and facilitated an extra night at a very reasonable rate, so we stayed an extra night! Breakfast is self service.. has a selection of hot foods.. bacon, sausage, fried eggs, mushrooms, beans, tomato, hash browns, fried bread, cereals, bread for toasting. With a range of jams and other toast toppings (separate gluten free choices and toaster) plus a variety of fruit and fruit juices. My only disappointment was there was not a continental choice of hams and cheeses or pastries, the only eggs were fried with no scrambled or poached options and there was only 'milk'.. with no varieties.. we prefer skimmed.. but can easy take semi-skimmed .. but it would be great if hotel could offer a range.. although.. if asked I'm sure they could cater for all needs and intolerances. Having said that we enjoyed breakfast and it set us up for long walks around Eyebrook reservoir, very close by and with stunning scenery! Nothing seemed too much trouble.. when we asked for anything it was delivered or sorted promptly with a smile.... it didn't seem like we were creating an issue at all. Would totally recommend this hotel and will stay again as we want to visit Rockingham Castle! Well done and thank you Rockingham Forest...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is our first and unfortunately last visit to best Western corby ,we live in corby and go out as a couple every month and have us time.. for years we actually thought this hotel was a care home looking at the outside š³ but after recently finding out it is indeed a hotel ! .. Room price was Ā£108 which is not overly bad but rather expensive even with breakfast . When we arrived we where seen to straight away and felt very welcome by the reception staff even though tmshe couldn't find our booking (due to slow system the company uses).. We had room 506 I couldn't help but notice there seems to be no lifts ! But it wasn't far upstairs to our room . Our room according to the booking was for a double room but this was more like a single size room with a double bed , roof is very low with a roof window room was rather claustrophobic. Room temp was set to 24C and was baking hot considering it was more or less the same temp outside ,we couldn't get the A/C to work but was soon fixed happily after calling reception... Bed was clean and so was the room apart from 2 cups heavily stained but seen as we had already contacted reception about the A/C we just cleaned the cups ourselves. There us a TV in the room however it is outdated and only shows DTV channels but mainly BBC and film 4 ,there's no wireless streaming and they are not smart tvs so pointless if you don't watch eastenders or coronation street or re runs of old game shows .. However it was not a bad night but still we weren't sure if the hotel was worth another stay . Next morning at breakfast we made our decision!! Actually breakfast was amazing I must add before I go any further.... Firstly we asked the reception lady where we went for breakfast and we were sort of snapped at and pointed to the direction . We walked into the restaurant there was a few eating but it was dead silent ! We then got approached by a member of staff who abruptly asked us "ROOM NUMBER" and then SIT THERE. "Don't use any other cups just the one on your table .. Then every member of staff we seen was absolutely miserable one young lad dressed all in black came from the kitchen I guess with a tray of eggs and threw them under the heat lamp , then walked off and came back with a wooden box of croissants and threw them one by one into something else and stomped off .. then the next customer ROOM NUMBER ,SIT THERE ! . I could go on but I think you get the point .. We left the food area and went to reception to raise the issue but the woman at the desk just sat looking at the computer screen didn't look up didn't speak , needless to say we checked out and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDancing weekend 16th February 2018 What a difference a year makes we had a dancing weekend last year and everything was very good. This year our room was freezing cold the heating worked sometimes. We had some free time on Saturday and arrived back at 2pm to find our room freezing cold my husband went to reception to report it again to be told that the heating didn't come on until 3pm surely the heating should be on all the time her way of fixing this was to give him a fan heater. The bedroom was clean but the bed was really hard. Because of the refurbishment we had to go upstairs to eat. The service was poor we waited ages for our food and when it finally arrived it was dissapointing the soup was so salty I needed to drink water but we had one bottle on a table of ten the staff did get us another one eventually. The breakfast was disappointing last year I was able to have low fat yogurt but this year was told all you have is the thick and creamy one. I then decided I would have the scrambled egg it didn't look very appetising and it wasn't it was like eating rubber, they ran out of mushrooms. Saturday night I decided to have the salmon after a very long wait it arrived and was swimming in oil as I am on a low fat diet for health reasons I found it very hard to eat. I know I could have sent it back but we had waited so long and we're already late for our evening dance I decided not to bother. We had booked to stay for the Sunday carvery which I have to say was the best meal of the weekend other than the only choice of potatoes were roast and they were swimming in oil so gave them a miss but the rest was fine. We were asked by our group to put our names down if we wanted to come next year I'm sorry to say we won't be coming back unless things...
