Brilliant exhibition space and gallery. We booked free tickets to specifically view the Mabel Pryde Nicholson exhibition, which is so unusual and a testament to her and her family. Also a cafe in the gardens and a small craft shop all in the Grange in Rottingdean, which in itself is worth a visit, as right on the sea.

The tea gardens are an absolute delight. I visited on a warm sunny day in late September. I sat in the shady lower garden but there was plenty of seating in the sunnier Upper garden too. A lovely calm gentle atmosphere and no sense of being hurried. Thoroughly recommend.

Great art exhibition. But, day out spoilt by long wait time for tea and coffee (filter only). Like 1 hour from siting down to finishing. Guess they just got overwhelmed.

What a shambles. The excuse was short staff. However, our order was simple 2 sandwiches (same filling) and 2 diet cokes. The order came out incorrectly. The wait for the order to be taken, and then again for the food to arrive was way too long, and it was service without a smile sadly. Paying was equally as painful. This is a disorganised organisation, and they are losing customers who walk out because of it. There are plenty of far better tea rooms, and cafes in Rottingdean, that we will be...

Went yesterday (Monday 29th July) for lunch. Sign at side said tea garden open. Went to back another sign said sandwiches etc. no hot food due to sickness. Went to door. All locked up. We had come from Brighton as had others we encountered there. All to find the tea gardens closed. Please don’t say you’re open when you’re not! And it would be helpful to put online the days the tea rooms are actually open to save people fruitless journeys....

Fantastic art gallery and museum in a lovely Georgian house busting with history. Former home of the artist William Nicholson (and his famous son Ben Nicholson). The house and gardens were extended but Lutyens and the gardens designed by Gertrude Jekyll. In the summer months you can enjoy tea and cakes in the beautiful garden. Well...
