Such a lovely find! Menu gives lots of options. Had to try the lemon cream tea and it was delicious! We also had the lemon drizzle cake which was equally delicious. We were looking around at those getting meals and they smelt delicious, although we certainly didn't question our choice. A very friendly atmosphere. The waitress was just delightful, smiley and helpful. We had our dog with us and she was attentive to him too. Highly recommend a visit. It is next to a Costa Coffee where they were not busy at all however Trellis was very busy and I can see why. We made a wise choice in where we ate and would highly...

We had a lovely walk from saltdean to rottingdean along the under cliffs on one of the hottest days in July 2022......found this tea room "the trellis"..... ordered the ploughman's lunch which you can order a beer with...... I can really recommend this on a hot day..... Good service, nothing to much trouble... Sat outside with the umbrella up.....good food..... nice cold beer...... Great little place.....then walked on to "kipplins" garden in rottingdean..... round to the pond...... then a very very slow walk back to saltdean........ Will go back to the trellis again...... a great little destination...

The place is weird, feels anyhow uncomfortable. The “ave Maria” as the backgroundmusic makes it also not better. We wanted to order 2 roasts, the lady told us to ask the “kitchen”. The she completely forgot us, while we were starving. We wished to modify our order for only 2 beers instead of have a dinner. The lady said no beer if no food ordered, however we just wanted to be friendly and not leave wihtout ordered anything at all.

A place to avoid, if you are under...

Really sweet little tea shop. Felt like we were transported back to the 1940s! Very extensive menu for such a little cafe, including homemade jams/chutneys, puddings, chilli, soup etc. Also have vegan and vegetarian options. One guest had a dairy allergy and they knew which dishes contained dairy and offered vegan spread for the bread. Very warm and kind staff, great service. Also dog friendly.

What a lovely little 'tea room', thoroughly enjoyed my visit, nothing too much for the staff, especially considering my two pernickety friends, home-made scones (bought some to take home), best ever, cream freshly whipped and real strawberries in the jam, rhubarb crumble with ice cream, tart and sweet at the same, yum, ploughman's lunch tasty, thank you, will be going back on my next visit

Great place to find, late in afternoon when other cafes were closed. Very colourful atmosphere (quintessential Brighton!) indoors. The selection of cakes and nibbles to wash a good tea or coffee down with were amazing. Service was lovely and extremely friendly. Thanks for adding this to our list of great experiences during our weekend in Brighton.
