We just had a horrible experience today. We came here to see the garden but we passed from the cafe (first time here) and we went then to the little shop. We saw the tickets were gonna be £3,50 each. Great, we bought the tickets and a little souvenir. We went in for less than a minute and back straight after since we realised it was not gonna lead us to the garden. The lady, called Path, was rude and acting racist immediately. She was looking at me like I wasn’t speaking English and saying things like “well what do you want me to do?” and “you went in didn’t you?” Yes I went in for a second! And I do speak fluent English since I’ve been living in Scotland for 7 years. I was obviously asking for a refund, and being absolutely nice and admitting my mistake even though was not clear at all. Again, looking at me like a was speaking another language. I went to speak with 2 guys at the cafe, they were lovely and kind and tried to talk with her but no way. I didn’t get any refund and at the end the racist won. I just got robbed of £7. Great job Path. Really this place should have a completely different person. She just ruined our experience. Thank you to the guys at the cafe, they even apologised for her and they were quite ashamed of course but again, not your fault. Hope this review will be taken in consideration because I’ve never received a treatment like this in 7...
Read moreBeatrix lived in Kensington, London and was of good means. As a result she holidayed in this small village on the Tay.
It is here she spent many summers and learnt how to draw. She wrote a number of stories here.
I visited the garden in the early autumn and was rather disappointed tbh.
There were just a couple of bronze figures in the small park. There was a story board area in the centre but it was getting dark and there was no lighting to read anything. Given it gets dark at 4pm in winter you'll need to go early or take a torch.
There was a museum & shop which looked very smart but it wasn't open...
Read moreA bit underwhelming. Was hoping it would be a wee adventure for small ones to find the statues during a road trip rest stop. Finished in 5 mins.
Could do with a bit of care and updating I think to draw in modern fans of Peter Rabbit. By doing so the town might get a little more stop off business for cafes and shops. Massive business...
