Our visit was an unexpected, fun, funny, and memorable delight! On our walk from the most excellent small hotel, Atholl House, to a delectable lunch at Blas, our son stopped to speak with Mr. MacAskill who invited our group of 12 to stop by after lunch. He and Mrs. MacAskill couldn't have been more charming and hospitable. He happily accepted our good wishes and rendition of "Happy Birthday" and later chided his wife when she let us know that his actual birthday is in September! He told us stories of the famous giant MacAskill, belted out a Gaelic ballad, and taught us the chorus so we could join in. To top off the visit, their son Danny MacAskill, an internationally known trial cyclist, took a break from his hoeing task and stopped in to welcome us, too. Read moreQuaint little museum, packed with local history relating to Giant Angus MacAskill.
We visited there as our daughter, who attended Sabhal Mòr Ostaig (SMO), had visited with SMO. She wanted us to see the Museum and meet Peter MacAskill as she really liked the Museum and Peter.
The curator, Peter MacAskill, is wonderful, inspiring, and so personable. He shares Giant Angus MacAskill's story and happy to help answer questions about Angus or other local things to do. Sung a song with Peter. He speaks Gàidhlig and our daughter was so happy to chat with him in Gàidhlig.
Highly recommend you stop, visit the museum, and...
