Was recommended by the cabin owner we were staying with, so made a reservation (a must!) and settled in for some good, heart and tummy warming nosh. And boy, was it! Service was brilliant, led by the indomitable Cath; we wanted to order quite a bit but we relied on her advice and went with the mussels for starters and the fish pie + langoustines for our mains. With space for the sticky toffee pud. What a meal! The mussels in white wine were divine and I had the best fish pie in all of our UK trip! The mash was gorgeously browned and packed with generous chunks of fresh and smoked fish. Delish! The langoustines were our first time and they were sweet little bites. They are a bit of work, and if we had to do it again, we'd probably go for the seafood platter or slow cooked beef cheek! Then came the pud. Decadent beyond! The food was excellent but what really elevated our meal was how well we were taken care of by the team. Thank you Cath and gang for making 2 little Asian ladies feel at home and so well fed! Bravo! P.S. If you can work something out with Bog Myrtle Cafe's baker for their sourdough bread, that would totally level up the mussels with white wine dish! ;-)

Rudest front of house I've ever had, just plain disrespectful and mean. I fully appreciate that you may be fed up with tourists but there's no need to be rude to people being perfectly nice. Read the other comments, I'm not the only one who experienced this. The waiting staff on the other had were extremely nice and polite, rather the contrast. So if you call or turn up and the front of house is being rude don't be too put off, you'll only need to deal with her for a couple of minutes. The food was overall average, some things were awesome such as the Cullen skink, others were a little lacking such as the black pudding with Talisker sauce, Talisker whisky has a rather distinct taste which didn't come through in the sauce which made me wonder if it was even in there. The seafood platter, which was supposed on their specials menu, was surprisingly lacking, it felt like it been added as a lot of places on Skye are doing seafood platter, but it was very bland and unimpressive, felt like very little effort was put into it. Overall it was ok, nothing out of this world, just very average. This is probably not the place to go to be wowed.

Wow, this place is delicious. We came in around 5:00 for dinner with no reservations and they were able to get us a table. Perhaps we were lucky so may want to make reservations. They start you off with bread and butter which I always appreciate. I got the blue cheese salad and my husband got the Cullen sink soup. Both were delicious, loved the blue cheese, not too strong. For the main, I got the grilled salmon and he got the beef cheeks. Salmon was so tender and delicious. The sauce was a great pairing to the mild fish. Perfect amount of fish. Husband had the beef cheeks, which were also incredibly tender, almost melt in your mouth. Very happy with our dinner. Service was also friendly and attentive. Someone sitting next to us had the fish and chips, they were gigantic.

Me and my buddies were taking a quick vacation in Scotland. We took a stop at Old school restaurant hoping to get some fine Scottish food. We were not disappointed. The staff is all friendly. Being used to the American McDonald's worker yelling "next" the second I'm finished ordering, to this was quite a pleasant surprise. It was a formal setting, lights dimmed, soft music playing in the backround. I had 6 different eating utensils all set out very nicely. I didn't know why I needed 6 instead of just a fork. But it looked nice. We sat down and were immediately given a large water flask made of glass. They promtly took our order of food and drinks. While we were waiting we couldn't help but notice that the table we were sitting at needed a spacer under the bottom right leg. This would fix the little bit of wobble in our table. But anyways shortly after this observation a young scottish man came up with a platter full of bread. He made a bowing gesture type move and asked if we would like some bread. He then went on to list his different flavors. I of course took the cheese flavor (always have the cheese flavor when offered). After we recieved our bread we were astonished that just 10 or so minutes after we ordered 2 out of 3 of the main courses arrived. Mine was a minute behind. But I feasted on the french fries/chips while I waited. (Be warned they are very hot) After my slight incident of searing my own tongue with my french fry I recieved my meal. It was quite delicious (Well at least the little I could taste after my burnt tongue). Over all the atmosphere was quite relaxing even if my group of raggedy fools from the states that have absolutely zero class struggled to fit in and not make a fools of ourselves. The food was delicious and the service perfect. If your visiting Scotland...

Lovely setting, friendly and polite waitress. Unfortunately that's where it stops being good. Restaurant was uncomfortably cold. Starters were ok but small portions. Adult mains of beer battered fish and chips were good but have had much better. Kids both ordered pizza, took one bite and despite never agreeing on anything else this whole holiday both suggested that something wasn't right with it. Insisting that it can't be that bad I asked to try it to see if they were just being fussy but I can only describe it as tasting like vomit. It was absolutely vile. The lovely waitress came over to check everything was ok and we politely told her that we thought that something was off with the pizza. She quickly took the plates back to the kitchen and soon returned with the plates to tell us that the 'chef' said that there was nothing wrong with them and did we still want them as we would still be charged. We again politely refused and as the kids hadn't had anything other than a few pieces of fruit and cheese suggested they tried something else. One had the sausage mash and beans but the other didn't want to risk not liking something else so declined and decided to get something firm our cottage later. Can't tell you how desert was as we hadn't all had dinner so didn't think it approximate. This restaurant had been recommended to us but I'm afraid that's where the chain ends as we certainly won't be recommending...

Unfortunately I cant give the 5 stars this establishment really deserve.. thus being due to, from the moment I stepped foot into reception area I was met with a foul mouthed individual, I merely asked 1 question which was, " do they allow dogs into reception to enable me to order take away food?" This individual raised his hands and shaking them stated, " the dog can come in as long as it doesnt, mess all over the place" How rude and arrogant is that?? The when asked if he should be charging the take away price for the bottled beer we also ordered, he bluntly replied NO! There was a couple of other bitter sweet moments with his behaviour.... My upset was recognised by a very understanding and compassionate worker.. I put my order in and waited outsude after explainubg my experiebce and that I was a very responsible dog owner, and was offended by this (person) behaviour and customer service of such an establishment.. During my wait said concerned worker approach me to ask 8f all was ok, I explained my query re take away alcohol, ( known my consumers rights, and price reduction)I trusted her to resolve any issues wirh this and quite rightly she returned with 10£. Unfortunately , the arrogant guy who created such an inconvenience, wasnt finished, as when my friebd went to collect the food, he continued to harrass and question mt friend regarding the matter in his usual arrogant and...
