The Bistro at Atholl House Skye — Restaurant in Skye

Very limited menu. Jacket potatoes with various fillings or platters which are basically things you can buy from the local food store (cold meats, cheese etc) put on a plate with some bread.

I ordered a jacket potato with venison casserole from the specials board for £14. The potato was dry and floury and as for the venison casserole! The only thing I can compare it with is tinned Asda Smart Price beef casserole that I used to eat when I was living in a bedsit and money was tight. It was just totally tasteless. We were so pleased with the entire experience at this restaurant. From the appetizer to the dessert, every dish was delicious, with generous portions. I highly recommend the hot smoked salmon salad. We loved the variety of local beer, cider, and scotch on the menu, and enjoyed finishing our drinks in the cozy lounge after dinner. We had 2 dinners at Atholl House while we stayed in Skye. The first was by chance, on the day we arrived: we benefited from the last-minute cancelation by people who had a car problem on their way, which was sad for them but good for us.
