From start to end the experience is awful! Felt like I was in maybe a nicer version of Gordon Ramsey’s Nightmare Kitchens. To begin with the restaurant was half-full (evening on a weekday. Not lunch or dinner rush). Completely appreciate that seating the customers takes time, but instead of immediately seating us or having another waitress help, the main waitress went about cleaning the tables, arranging the items on the tables, putting out cutlery, etc. This was when three groups of people were blocking the entrance of the restaurant. When we did get a chance to sit we tried to order quickly so that we could just grab something and leave since we had plans to attend to right after. We were instead told off that there was a table of 3 which hadn’t been served and that the couple before us who got seated a few seconds before us needed to order first. We did try to get someone else’s attention first since she was so busy but we’re told there’s only one person taking orders. Unfortunately we had to wait the additional 5-10 minutes before getting her attention only to be told off. When we did finally order we were told that she would try to fit in our order after the larger groups. The food itself when it arrived was greasy and lumpy. Barely touched the food and our stomachs are feeling a bit upset at the amount of butter and grease used.
From the reviews that I’ve read this seems to be a pattern. You need to order mains from each person to get any attention. Larger the groups the better (hint hint: the money that your group generates). The menu even mentions you cannot share the food - including pizzas. As for the chef that the owner says has trained in Le Cordon Bleu, it looks like they have lost their...
Read moreAfter a disappointing fine dining experience at the three chimneys in Isle of Skye, our visit to The Misty was nothing short of spectacular, making it a must-visit.
From the moment we stepped in, the warmth and efficiency of the service set the tone for the evening. The staff was incredibly friendly, greeting us with smiles and ensuring our needs were promptly attended to throughout our meal.
The menu at offered a delightful range of options, catering to all tastes and preferences. The standout dishes for were the us were the pizza and the fish and chips. Both dishes were cooked to perfection, with the pizza boasting a perfectly crispy crust and wonderfully balanced toppings, while the fish was fresh, flaky in a light, crispy batter.
However, the real stars of the show were the milkshake and the day's special waffle. The milkshake was rich and creamy, a decadent treat that was enjoyed by both kids and adults. The waffle was simply divine, served warm with just the right amount of crispness and topped with Nutella and bananas. The dessert was so exceptional it left us searching for comparisons, only to find that nothing else could measure up.
Adding to the appeal were the very reasonable prices, which provided excellent value for the quality and portion sizes. It was a delightful surprise, especially in a tourist-frequented location where dining can often come with a hefty price tag.
I highly recommend The Misty to anyone visiting the Isle of Skye. It's a place where you can truly enjoy a meal that exceeds expectations without breaking the bank. Spend your money here and skip the overpriced and underwhelming...
Read moreWe decided to go to the Misty for a takeaway pizza for an easy dinner whilst we were on Skye for 5 nights.
The service was fast and polite, the staff there were friendly and it was well signposted that you ordered at the till and then took a seat to wait for your food where you could choose to eat in or take away. They had a good selection of pizzas as well as other takeaway items such as fish and chips.
The prices were reasonable and the ladies who served us at the till were very friendly and smiley whilst still being professional and thorough. We felt very welcome and it was clear that our custom was appreciated. There were a few other people waiting ahead of us for their food and some people waiting after us for their order to be taken. Even though it was busy and the staff had lots to do, it did not feel chaotic and there was plenty of space for us to sit and wait for our pizzas.
The atmosphere inside was pleasant and the Misty is very well decorated and appears clean and inviting inside. There are lots of little trinkets and decorations to catch your eye.
We sat for a short time (maybe 10 to 20 minutes) before our pizzas were brought out in pizza boxes and we decided to take them away.
The staff were very friendly and wished us a good evening. The pizzas were hot and fresh, crisp and thin, with a good amount of toppings and good flavour.
Overall it was a perfect takeaway experience, exactly as...
