I was keen to see some part of Grantown as I had passed very close on a mystery tour decades ago. One coach headed for Grantown whilst the one I was on headed for Tomintoul. The museum is located near a small car park where I was dropped off before the rest of our party went for a nearby walk. The timing was also good as it is a small museum and I was not rushed to get through the place. Despite being small, like all other museums it had taken a lot of hard work to collect the items that were on display. I got round in around 30 minutes. Well worth the price, which helps to support the place. Time well spent here for me.

My Mum and I went for the Adventures in Costume experience, ran by volunteers Heather and Steve. They were so lovely and made us so comfortable. Heather was so knowledgeable with the costumes, and the undergarments. It was such an experience to be fully dressed in the correct periods, even down to the chemise. I would definitely recommend doing this experience. I was slightly concerned as being bigger than the models in the website pictures, but Heather was able to advise me which costumes would work. Steve took many photos which were then emailed to me. A great experience, and a highlight of our holiday.

I visited the Grantown Museum on the last weekend of October just before it closed for the season. I had visited a few museums and I thought this one was very good, plenty to read up on. The building is obviously a former school and the rooms are compact inside. There is a five minute introductory film and then you can take your time. They have a small gift shop which was well stocked. I believe the museum reopens in March or April. I paid £5 entry which I thought was very good value for money.

My friends and I booked a costume try-on experience. We were a group of 5, two males and three females.

Heather was incredibly knowledgeable as she walked us through all the different costumes available and how to coordinate our outfits. As we got dressed, we were guided through all the different layers and the experience felt authentic to how ladies would have dressed in the past. I might have remembered incorrectly, but as I recall many if not all the costumes were made and maintained by Heather which is amazing because they feel so authentic.

After getting dressed, we were brought into the garden area where we had individual and group pictures. It was incredibly fun and Stephen was receptive towards all our unusual photo requests!

Also wanted to add, that our group was stuck in some unforeseen traffic and arrived about 30 minutes after our designated start time. I gave them a call while we were on our way explaining the situation and we were so grateful that they waited for us and managed to fit us in!

Cannot stress enough how lovely Heather and Stephen were. So accommodating and knowledgeable. Highly...

We visited Grantown Museum this August for an one of a kind full period costume try-on (with corsets, chemise, shoes!) with pictures included! Our group of 5 visiting from London and Canada really enjoyed not only the garments themselves but the whole process of putting them on. Heather was so helpful and attentive with making sure we picked a costume that suited our preferences (such as a higher neckline for me) as well as guiding us through the dressing. She also took the time answer our questions and to explain the garments themselves, their usage, the history behind them and the kinds of people who might have worn similar styles in the past as she helped us into them, which made for such a full experience that was both fun and interesting. Both Stephen and Heather were so accommodating during our visit and were very accommodating to our photography ideas as well which made for an extraordinarily unique and lovely experience. I would love to come back again to try on another one of their many beautiful...
