Oh dear , where do I start, we booked this a week in advance for 9 people. We got put right next to the entrance with the door tied open to the kingfisher beer tap on the bar, so when customers came in for pre ordered takeaway meal's it meant that they were standing right behind us, obviously we were sat close to the front window so that the restaurant looked busy. Then came our meal, we ordered 5 portions of pilau rice expecting 5 individual portions , we actually go 2 dinner plates with rice piled on them, a wrong meal and one meal short, korma sauce tasted like butter, not much spices at all, served on cold dinner plates and no hot plate to keep the meal warm Then I'm going to tell you about the staff. There was one gentleman took our order, then another served our meal, the rest were school kids , we honestly couldn't believe what was going on. Absolutely no idea what they were doing, one would put side plates down then minutes later another one would lift them , this happened twice. Then they started lifting dinner plates just as you put the last mouth full of food in your mouth and other people were still eating, like they were in a hurry to get us out, We used this restaurant a few years ago when we were in Grantown but it has severely went down...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic! 2nd trip to Grantown on Spey and did some research on where to eat. Mixed reviews for @Sylhet but decided to wander along. Monday night and totally empty but decided to give it a whirl. We were NOT disappointed. Opted for just poppadoms to start but lovely with plenty of dips. I had South Indian garlic chilli chicken and my partner has chicken bhuna with fried rice and garlic naan. I have to say mine was one of the most delicious dish I have ever had…seriously. Wasn’t the usual where the chilli can blow u away. This was such a balance with the garlic the star of the meal sliced thinly, loads of, but not harsh. The rice was yummy too. Soooo tasty with loads of soft onion. Naan was lovely too and not too oily. My partner loved hers too. She said it was different from the normal bhuna but similarly lush. Attentive service but not over bearable. Had 2 bottles of wine and the bill was still under £70. A real find. We will go out of our way for a return...
Read moreI think i will end up disappointing a lot of local people but I must. I want the reader to know that this is Not how any cuisine from India tastes like. Its probably a Bangladeshi outfit who are selling bangladeshi cuisine but please stop calling it Indian in any context. I respect what is cooked and served here. I totally understand how local scottish people would have come to love its taste, possibly this is how the cuisine here has evolved. Chicken tikka is never ruby red, veg zalfrezi does not have high countable number of chillies, mushroom garlic is not a chopped mushroom dish, naan does not need a yellow turmeric embalm on it & for the love of kilfi i could never figure out what was I eating as ‘kulfi’. I m sure the establishment is great but its Not Indian. I do thank the place for filling my team with warm food on xmas eve where most places were closed! I wish your team...
