It's Sma' Shot day in Paisley which pays tribute to its weaving past, Paisley arguably was the leading weaving town in Scotland. The weaving industry led to a process for making thread which led to the thread mills but even without the mills industrialisation throughout the UK would probably have led to decline of weaving. There are many reminders of Paisleys thread making past indeed you could describe the centre of Paisley as a living museum to the Coats, the Clarks and the company they built. Volunteers are brilliant and engaging! Lovely cafe and gift shop. Very worth it. Flexible open hours, just contact them to visit, even in wintertime. This place is kept by the old Paisley society so it’s definitely important to support these historic buildings being kept afloat by small groups...

Wonderful historical site that is free to enter. Knowledgeable volunteers there to show you all around. Thank you for helping us get a feel for life during a very difficult and trying time.
