Great country park with large lake and wetland areas. Path around the lake is hard top with shingle making it just about accessible to kids scooters. Biking is encouraged, and as far as we could make out there is at least part of the route with a dedicated bike lane.

Birds we saw were coots, mute swans, gulls, mallards, cormorants, Egyptian geese and greylag geese. There were also tons and tons of ladybirds flying around.

The walk around the lake is about two miles, and with a few five minute breaks on various benches, and a few stops due to scooter "lag", we got all the way around in about an hour and a half.

Our little boy had great fun spotting the trains on the other side of the river Wensum as they follow the water out of Norwich.

There is a barn cafe at the car park which sells the typical food and drink you might expect. A bit pricey but very welcomed after the trek. It has plenty of seating outdoors, and sing further seating on an elevated level inside.

Parking is pay and display.

Five hours which appears to be the max you can stay for will set you back £6.

All in all a nice walk...

Had never ventured into the park before this visit but had a lovely walk around the broad and explored the amenities. The broad isn't navigable from the Broads network although the river Yare is just adjacent aling the northern edge. It's therefore possible to walk all around it and at a comfortable pace with a few stops to take in views and sample blackberries this takes around 90 minutes.

The architecturally interesting contemporary watersports activity centre and older derelict ruins of a house with associations to Edward III provide distraction along the way. It's possible to hire a range of different watercraft if you've the energy or to ride the solar powered ferry if you're more inclined to take to the water using that of the sun... presumably only operates in fair weather? The views across the Yare to Thorpe St Andrew and the suburban railway line also add to the experience.

Very worth a visit, the waterfowl are quite lovely and tranquil to watch, and the site also forms part of the longer Wherryman's Way... from Norwich to Great Yarmouth if you're up to it...

A stones throw from the City of Norwich and just off the bypass at County Hall. Whitlingham Country Park is partly a man made delight of Broads, walks, an Outdoor Adventure pursuits facility and an old flint barn, now a cafe serving food and drinks, which is open all year. A public paying car park with toilets. There’s even a camping site. Picnic areas are dotted throughout the park. It’s well maintained and the gravel path around the Great Broad is generally accessible but can flood at times. Wellies come in handy! There’s a lovely woodland walk or a path around the marshland. Whatever you decide it’s a beautiful spot to visit all seasons. It’s a natures delight with the help of mans intervention which has been throughout history. The wildlife can be full of surprises. It’s a great place to come and enjoy whatever your pursuit. It’s also part of The Wherryman’s Way which starts from the city near the train station and takes you through the peaceful Norfolk Broads to...
