Fast, efficient and frequent service, probably the best way to avoid getting tangled up in peak time Traffic in Padstow. Very expensive however, £15 both ways for two adults and a child for what is a 10min ferry ride. Consider this especially if you are going to Padstow off-peak when parking in the town is easier and cheaper. Keep an eye out on the board on the beach if leaving from the Rock, low tide means the boat leaves a 5min walk along the beach from the main slipway by the car park, so you might want to take this into consideration on timing. Additionally make sure you are fully aware of the last ferry time which finishes any time between 1600 and 1800 depending on the season.

If you want to go to Rock (And, frankly, I cannot see a reason why you should, except heading to Polzeath Beach from there directly), you can do so on a short and nice ferry ride from Padstow. The ferry service runs about every 20 minutes during the day, the last return ferry from Rock is 6.30 p.m. It is a very short boat ride really, just 5 minutes, around the sands. The staff are very friendly, and the puffers do a very good job advertising both this and the speedboat ride. Just keep in mind that Rock has nothing much to offer except a couple of restaurants. Not even a rock. The return fare is UKP 4 for an adult, UKP 2 for small children.

We enjoyed our ferry ride. 18 pounds felt slightly expensive for a return journey but the kids enjoyed the short boat ride. We parked at Rock Quarry Car Park by the beach and got Ferry over to Padstow to do some shopping. Expect to queue in peak season but two boats are crossing so you don't have to wait long.

An Excellent ferry service between Rock and Padstow. Often used by locals for a commute or to gain access to shops and services but also used by many visitors. The service makes it possible to stay in Rock where prices might be a little cheaper and it is certainly quieter, and yet be able to visit Padstow for restaurants and other entertainments. The ferry runs till quite late during the summer month but you should always check the time of the last ferry if you do not want a long swim or an expensive taxi ride later in the evening. The crew are a jovial group and one in-particular has a very dry sense of humour. On the crossing, look out for the occasional seal or even a basking shark (not unknown here) and please do not get out your sandwiches for fear of attracting the seagulls who will then do their very best to redecorate the boat and it's passengers after which you may find that your...
