Only given one star as zero star option not available. We should have realised the food was terrible by the amount left on everyone's plates when leaving. Ordering was a nightmare as had to be done online however no internet connection available so a member of staff begrudgingly took my order at the till. Waited 45 minutes for an over priced, undercooked pizza that looked like it had been cooked from frozen in a microwave, loaded nachos with watery lemon flavoured salsa, curdled sour cream and guacamole that looked dry as if it had been left out for a week and onion rings, how can they mess up an onion ring you may ask, well they did, burnt on one side, raw on top and tasted like cardboard. First piece of pizza my daughter takes and she finds a dark brown hair in it. We told one of the three members of staff stood around talking to what appeared to be a manager serving the food out of the kitchen who grumbled about taking it back. We then watched as they inspected the hair (5 members of staff) to which the manager shouted over "take it you don't want it then", because of course it's normal to eat pizza with someone elses hair in it. I asked him why they were all inspecting it like I was lying when it was right there, to which he smirked then laughed and said I'll do another one. When it did arrive it was again disgusting the cheese (although I'm not convinced it was actually cheese) looked barely melted and was just one big clump. We were then subjected to the manager and other staff members talking about us and staring at us which made my daughter uncomfortable, never once did they apologise and the customer service was non existent. Also if you are going to stand gossiping at an open plan kitchen maybe don't say "all the customers are p*ing me off", I'm pretty sure that all the customers who paid for your food and I use that term lightly left feeling exactly the same. Don't eat here it's...
Read moreThe food was okay, but the way the manager (short pink hair) treated me was nothing short if rude and disrespectful. After highlighting to the lovely staff member on till that I have coeliac and a dairy intolerance, they went to get the manager to "talk me through" things. Fab. That's where the good experience ended.
The manager walked over, chucked a folder filled with spreadsheets on the counter , and said, "Information is in there." Then, litterly turned their back on me and lent on the reception desk. When I looked through it, it was extremely confusing, and there was no mention of gluten-free pizza alternatives. By this time, there was a big queue. I feel uncomfortable enough because of the stigma that people have about people with allergies, coeliacs, and intolerances. When asked if there was a gf pizza available, the manager huffed, turned around, and said very abruptly, "There's pepperoni, ham and pineapple, or margarita. Which one do you want?"
Wow. Just wooooooow. By this time, there was a big queue of huffing, sighing, eye rolling customers waiting. I've never been made to feel so awkward, uncomfortable, and embarrassed. We spent roughly £150 for 7 of us. I could only eat the made to order pizza (tasted okay thankfully) and didn't dare touch the salad bar because of cross contamination.
We were stopping in the tree houses for 2 nights. Luckily, I had bought ready meals I could have because Alton Tower is absolutely appalling for dietary requirements. When will they realise that having coeliacs or any allergies/intolerance ISN'T A CHOICE!
For the prices they charge, do better, merlin! You seriously need to retrain your pink haired manager or sack them. The other serving staff member was lovely, but when they're apologising because their manager is acting appallingly, you know there is...
Read moreMy family and I have been coming to the pizza and pasta restaurant since it opened in 2009. In 10 years we have never had a bad experience. My son and I are vegetarians and my husband is a meat eater and there is always plenty of food, piping hot and regularly topped up when required.
There are 2 vegetarian pizzas (margharita and one with lots of vegetables on) and about 4 or 5 meat pizzas. There are also 2 pasta choices (bolognese with beef mince) and a vegetarian one with peppers, mushrooms etc. There are about 4 drinks machines around the restaurant with Coke Zero, Diet Coke, Fanta, Sprite and Oasis fruits.
There are 2 well stocked salad bars offering a wide range of salad items and about 4 salad dressings.
I feel the ice cream is a welcome addition to the restaurant and provides even more value for money, and is a huge hit with not just children but adults as well, especially in summer.
We have always found the staff to be very welcoming, friendly and helpful and the restaurant is always spotless. As soon as people leave their table, a staff member cleans the table immediately which is great when there is a long queue. The price is £14 per adult and £7.50 for a child and I feel this is value for money because it is all you can eat and always keeps us full so we don't need an evening meal. With the Merlin annual pass you get 20% off which works out as £11.20 for adults and £6 for kids.
We always enjoy filling our tummies here and are looking forward to...
