I have known Torkington Park since my childhood, and seen it develop from farmland into mature parkland. Thanks to the local authority and a devoted community of friends, it is now a lovely recreational space. The walled garden is an oasis of beauty and tranquility, while the main park offers a woodland walk along a stream and plenty of open space. The children's playground has been recently re-equipped. The 192 bus stops at one corner (on the A6) and parking is available off Torkington Road and Buxton Road.

Quite a small park, great if you're local! My son spent a bit of time playing on the playground otherwise I don't think we'd have been there too long as there isn't really any walks etc. The playground is quite small but it is cute. The only complaint I'd say is there's a huge slide there that's only accessible by a spider's web climbing frame so it's impossible for quite young children.. would be nice if they had a ladder etc as an alternative. Love the rainbow!

Its an okay place to visit. The play area itself is a little small, but has some fun things to play with. The obvious attraction here is the rainbow 👌 There is also a big slide that the only way to get to it is to climb the spider web, not suitable for younger kids, but when kids see something they want to go on, and can't, it can make things interesting. I ended up climbing the web and lifting the little one up.

Torkington Park is where fun time meets Mr Green, There are football pitches, tennis courts, bowling greens and mini golf courses. It is possible to play pooh sticks in the stream or give your dogs or even your horse a good run.. For those seeking a quieter life with perhaps a little light meditation there is a secluded "secret garden" although I might just've let that cat out of the bag! If you are however now in that most secret of gardens, and feel the need to scream beware lest echo' ghost answers you back. Hazel Grove Carnival traditionally held in June or July normally terminates in Torkington Park and often coincides with the welcome arrival of the...

We visited Torkington park on a Sunday afternoon. This park is really great enough equipment to keep the children engaged ours are 8 years old. There are enough things from climbing frames to roundabout. Once the children had finished with the equipment they could go off for a scoot to the other side of the park around the tarmac track which does a full circle of the park. Then they finished off playing in the wooded area which they felt fun and interesting but we could still keep an eye on them. Also parking up near the house accessed from Torkingto road made access very easy. Overall a great park would...
