I phoned the restaurant just before 6pm on Saturday 28th January and asked to book a table for 2 for 7pm. I gave my name and the gentleman who took my call said "yes that's fine".
We arrived to find the restaurant very busy. A young man who was serving by the bar looked in our general direction and I said we'd booked a table. The response I got was a blank look followed by "We don't take bookings for 2 people". I assured him that I had indeed phoned only an hour earlier and made the booking. He wandered off to speak to someone and when he finally came back he said "no, I've just checked there's nothing in the book but you can wait for a table as we don't take bookings for 2 people". There was no apology for the confusion about the booking, no attempt to make us feel welcome. To be honest we felt like an inconvenience. Had we been made to feel more welcome, we would happily have waited for a table.
I do not appreciate being spoken to in such a dismissive manner, nor do I appreciate the implication that I was lying about making a booking. Quite frankly, it was disgraceful and we will not be returning.
I would suggest that you spend a little time training your staff in basic customer...
Read moreWhat a lovely evening, my husband and myself Was in for early doors. Meet by the owner himself (Ged) and shown to table of our choice, by the radiator ( much needed on a cold December evening) We chose are pre dinner drinks then the menu came . No rush ,just relaxing and taking in the ambiouns. We know from passed experience the dishes are excptanably large ,this in mind we ordered garlic bread with tomato topping, spare bbq spare ribs to share, both ordered the canaloni. Not to be disappointed it was amazing. No room for desert so we ordered 2 Irish coffee. The coffee is great on its own but as an Irish, different level. When we asked for the bill, the lady incharge Geds wife was so hospitable and offered us a Christmas drink on the house . She also arranged for the taxi to take us home. Thank you for your kind hospitality and great food. See you soon, happy customers 😊 Will be back soon, will recommend you as always to our family...
