Rambling park with lots to do. There are two car parks from the Turncroft lane side and a third entrance off park lane. If you enter from the Brinnington entrance it's a very steep hill (I think Stockport Harriers use it for training). The Brinnington entrance takes you through some more formal planting and they have a bandstand which gets used for events. The Turncroft lane and park lane entrances are on a level with the main park area, this is more wood land with some open green in the middle which can sometimes be used for cricket matches. There is an athletic club with a running circuit. And crown green bowling greens. Duck pond and children's play ground. If you leave the main areas paths lead down to the river Goyt where kingfishers have been spotted and I believe you can walk to Marple locks (but I've never tried it, I have seen kingfishers and plenty of bluebells). There is also a tea room and small museum - you might need to check...

Woodbank park is adjacent to Vernon park they are linked but in fact, are two separate parks. Many people tend to think Vernon park is wood bank but as I say they are two separate parks Woodbank is mainly a large well kept field with beautiful trees. Where Vernon Park is more flower beds and trees but both are excellent. There are many paths leading into some fantastic woodland with the river goyt flowing through Parts of the river are shallow but don't be fooled there are deep fast flowing parts so do take care. The circular route through the woods is maybe about two miles with steep slopes in places and not suitable for people with severe mobility needs.also be aware that the top part of the park itself has some sheer high drops down into the woods and...

Staff very friendly and helped run by volunteers. Food very good. Great views of park and interesting art gallery downstairs. Shame that the Museum was disbanded. Great news is that you can walk the calories off in pleasant surroundings. Such a shame that the Council has cut back on staff to cultivate the gardens. Once again money cutbacks!!!! Bring back Summer Bands again please in the historic band stand. Also we miss the Xmas evening of Carol singing outside the cafe. The Salvation Army band was fantastic. We enjoyed mince pies and drinks. Once again money cutting!!! I thought the parks were to provide enjoyment and entertainment for all the families??? Comenon Councillors give us back...

We go most days to exercise the dog, unfortunately lately the area at the back of the running track has been spoilt by motorcycles ripping up the pathways and roma gipsy types lighting a campfire not only that their German shepherd was running wild out of control. The council does not allow 1, motorcycles in the park 2, lighting of fires or barbecues and 3, By law it's a requirement to keep dogs under control. The fire was on the path marked as Fred Perry Way.

Enjoyed watching the crane and look forward to the bridge opening. This will link walks from Bredbury without going on roads. Lovely park I'm very limited in my walks due to chemo. This park is lovy lots of benches to sit on so I can walk in stages. The path is very wheel chair and pram friendly. I'm recovering from surgery and there is a lovely flat walk with plenty of benches close to the car park. Managed 2 laps today my record so far.
