Take in the panoramic views of Sunderland's coastline or look seaward to spot a pod of dolphins whilst listening to the dulcet tones of local fishermen who's pastime your are currently interrupting whilst standing in the exact spot handed down to them as a birthright. You'll be left in no doubt as to why the pier was constructed with a tunnel to facilitate safe access to the lighthouse back in the day. Local fun playpark for the kids and clean accessable toilets, including disabled facilities. Great ample parking facilities, including disabled parking makes visiting this location so easy. The new visitor centre located as you enter the Pier, is a great start as you walk along the Pier towards the grand looking lighthouse.
