Fausto Coffee — Restaurant in Sunderland

After booking a table I arrived to be told that my table had been taken by someone else who hadn't booked, so we could either have them ask the people to move or just find somewhere ourselves when there didn't appear to be any other tables ?? I didn't want to ask people to move as that would be rude and most likely ruin their lunch. The whole reason for booking is to reserve a table to avoid any of this. Due to this we didn't even get to have our lunch at faustos. When I rang back to ask to speak to the person in charge, the manageress said that it was her who had dealt with me and she was sorry I felt this way and repeated back a version of events and the conversation that just wasn't correct. I usually really like coming here and look forward to it every time, for the food, service and atmosphere. All three were completely lacking today and the manageress was less than understanding and offered no help. Extremely disappointed. ( In response to the reply, We were not told the people at our table were staff members whatsoever or that they expected to be moved, we were absolutely not offered another table. What an epic place. Visited following a recommendation, and wasn’t disappointed. Despite delicious sounding omnivorous food, I had the vegan mezze bagel which was genuinely delicious. The coffee was really, really good; I’m assuming it was Ousburn Coffee Co as they were selling bags of that too. Green smoothy was blended there and then, fresh and mega healthy but also really tasty. Vegan fig cake was also very decadent, soft and delicious. If I hadn’t have pigged out on all that I’d have stayed for pizza in the evening. Lovely friwndly staff, food was beautifully presented. It’s rare I can concentrate on work in a café with music, but such is the welcoming feel of Fausto that I was really productive. Big windows ovelooking the sea certainly helps. The only improvement would be getting opening times straight both on the website and on Google maps, as you could decide not to go thinking it’s closed when in fact it’s open. Personally, I had a bad experience here. Went for a walk along the shore on a cold day and waited in the queue outside for nearly an hour for a coffee, the size options were very disappointing having no large size cups, suddenly the hour wait felt not worth the time invested! The cake selection was also lacking..

2 points, whilst waiting in the queue there were several groups that turned up and decided to use click and collect who then ended up getting served far quicker than those who've already been queuing for a substantial period of time, seems to me that priorities are unbalanced here.

Secondly. Upon entering the shop, the staff seemed distanced, lack of care towards customer service with no sense of urgency when there is a fairly long queue outside in the cold waiting to be served.

Personally, I won't be going here again and although I've not tried it, I'd recommend visiting the coffee shop next...
