Just been on the full tour .Wow I thought it was fantastic . Everything about it I loved. Walking through the tunnel it was just fascinating . The tour guides were very knowledgeable and so friendly . They put you at ease if anybody was worried about the walk through the tunnel . I really think they are a huge asset they were so compassionate about Sunderland and the lighthouse and they are volunteers. ( Big thank you to Stuart 👍) If your thinking about doing this tour book it ! Don't forget to take some money with you for souvenirs no card machines at the lighthouse . I purchased a lovely photo of the lighthouse and a guide . I really think they should charge more than the £ 6 for the tour it's definitely worth more...

There is a 15min introduction regarding safety and a brief overview of the tour. There are steep steps in places, as one would expect. Excellent information on the history of the lighthouse and how it was built. Including its use over the years ie during the second World War. Adequate time to ask questions. The team of volunteers were fabulous. Thank you for a great experience detailing the lighthouse history. You have to have a level of fitness to negotiate the steep stairs. Well worth a visit. Whole visit lasted almost 2 hrs (usually 1.5hrs). Small group of 8 people, which was...

Wow. We had a private tour of four with two volunteers walking us through the tunnel into and up the light house. Amazing views and so interesting learning the history of why the pier was needed and how it was built. A completely different perspective of a popular beach walk. Would highly recommend. Volunteer's were full of knowledge preserving a lot of local history. I can imagine this being good for children although i believe they need to be a minimum of...
