I wanted to do something nice , so I took my three daughters to Granny Annies for lunch , we've been there before and it was always a pleasant experience . We arrived just after 12 and although there were still seats , the place was quite busy , so busy that after we got our drinks and ordered food , we waited an HOUR for the food to arrive . I ordered a veggie burger and chips . I had thought the burger would be quorn or some meat substitute but when i bit into it , the consistency was like warm mush . I tried one of the chips and although the outside was like leather and not crispy at all , the inside of the chip had pieces of uncooked potato in it . My daughters food was no better , a medium rare rump stake arrived burnt and had to be sent back and dumplings ( mince and dumplings ) that tasted like stale bread - ALTOGETHER UNPLEASANT . I had emailed Grannie Annies direct in the hope that they would get in touch and explain if they had problems that day but after waiting 4 days and still no reply , I thought I would list my review publicly . The problem I have in leaving a negative review is that the girls who work behind the counter are great , they are always very friendly and polite and you couldnt find a group of friendlier people . My daughters dog loves going in there because the girls spoil him rotten - this review is in no way a critique of their service - they are always brilliant , but as for the food , its very hit and miss and on the day we went , it was a definite MISS .I wont be going back...
Read moreAs a regular visitor to Grannie Annie’s I have to say I love everything about the place apart from the ever increasing prices it isn’t so much the food that is fine and always nice but I have to mention the price of the drinks we had a pint of Carling shandy and a medium glass of red wine and it came to &9.20 now I understand prices have gone up but personally I think that is extortionate I know smaller places can’t compete with weatherspoons but it costs &4.89 for a medium red wine and a pint of lager and you can get a bottle of wine for &10.99 that is a huge difference and one that will drive customers away from grannie Annie’s we won’t be returning it is far too expensive for a drink granted it is a fantastic setting with great food and excellent staff that isn’t the issue it simply comes down to finances if you want to go out for a few drinks weatherspoons will win every time I hope the management look at this honest review and do something about it so we can return one day if not well that’s it for us...
Read moreI have been going to this pub for over 10 years! However, on this occasion we sat at the table upstairs near the bar. The staff were in the back with the door open having massively inappropriate conversations. Talking, well announcing! That that would stab each other if things weren’t done, with an abundance of swearing in between, myself and other customers were uncomfortable. I wouldn’t have said or commented to the staff, untill my 6 year old was asking why they were saying naughty words. I informed a member of staff who was a little dismissive and just said right ok and walk off. Raised voices were still heard in the back so we decided to leave. First ever review I’ve left on any establishment. I’d advise you promote a culture of professionalism, not alllow staff to announce they were sick of their jobs! Swearing and they would stab each other in an aggressive voice! Supplemented with continuous swearing for...
