Very good facility, nice cafe which sells hot food. 2 tennis courts, a football pitch, a well- funded play park and an outdoor excercize area. Good for learning to bike ride, walking your dog or a fun day out for families with children, especially younger ones or children between 12 and 14 as there is a bigger kid section and little kid section to the park. The park is of walking distance or a bus journey from leigh bus station so it easily accessible. I've been there 100s of times but most recently I went to do some roller skating with my sibling (who was on a skateboard). We got off at leigh bus station and then walked to the park, spent about 2 hours there and then walked back into leigh, got a Maccies hot chocolate and got the bus back out. The journey was very easy and we didn't didn't have to cross any roads between the bus station and park. ( a good place to go for children practicing independence) it cost 6 pound for a day saver on the buses and 99 for a drink, so a cheap day out. In the past I have spent 6-8 hours there and...
Read moreWent for a bird spotting session. Site has numerous hides for viewing, all very well maintained and easily accessible. There is a good connection of pathways, mostly suitable for all, including disabled. There is a path that goes around lake, takes good hour, walking leisurely. Parking is £1.20 a day, with ample space, although can get very busy at weekends, still enough parking though. Ticket machines out of use at present, but tickets can be purchased at golf shop. Amenities are: toilets, trailer for food, drink and bird food, ice cream van. Plenty of benches and picnic tables, also ample waste bins. There is children's play area, which gets well used. There is the Robin Hood pub opposite the entrance to the park. They have excellent food and drinks on, very cosy and comfortable. Would recommend Pennigton...

However, I was slightly disappointed with my experience at the cafe. After waiting for over 15 minutes, I was served a Biscoff milkshake that was not as cold as I had hoped, and it tasted more like flavored milk with whipped cream. While I did not complain at the time, as there were families and children enjoying themselves nearby, I will refrain from purchasing milkshakes from the cafe in the future to avoid further disappointment. Nevertheless, the park itself remains a delightful place to relax, enjoy the scenery, and take in the...
