Great little museum set around a row of old butcher stalls and part of the Town Hall. Interesting displays about the local area including the prehistoric and early settlements, Bewdley's boom as a port town in Georgian times when the river was still navigable, local cottage industries and social history through different periods including exhibits on crime and punishment (old prison cells, handcuffs, stocks etc), the old horse-drawn fire pump and a WW2 air-raid shelter used by workers at the adjacent post office. Lovely gardens too, full of beautiful displays (including a number of Acers giving it a bit of a Japanese feel in places) and what looked like a nice cafe (though we didn't sample it as we"d already had fish & chips by the river. Best of all it's free! A good way to kill an afternoon after you've had a wander around the riverfront and...

Came upon this unusual little museum by chance and spent an absorbing hour here. The staff were both welcoming and knowledgeable. The galleries and craft workshops are imaginatively housed in a former butcher's shambles. Lots of info covering the region's social and natural history and its traditional industries and occupations, along with artefacts, models and fun interactive displays for kids and adults alike. Enjoyed sniffing the exotic spices in the labelled drawers and visiting the jail cell. There's a lovely little garden at the back of the museum with a World War II air raid shelter and other historic features. The little café serves light snacks and cakes and there are also some toilets. Worth a browse round the shop too, some beautiful jewellery and ornaments as well as the usual toys and souvenirs. A great little discovery, well...

2nd visit-Went again 3 May 15. Air raid shelter wss open and small replica trench area which my son's found interesting , there was a spring fair on in the town so plenty to see. Plenty of seating in the museum pretty garden for picnic or tea etc from the cafe, lots to look at and children's activities, everything was free, my kids didn't get bored. Parked in river car park so pleasant walk to the museum. Think it was 3.60all day. 1st visit -Popped in late in day and wish gone earlier as a lot to see and do, its not just a museum it also houses interesting craft outlets, and a great cafe and a lovely park backs onto it. The herb garden was lovely, there was air raid shelter and kids activities, toilets, lots to look at, will be bringing my children here ato have a look, it is much bigger than it looks, what a gem...

It is a small but amazing museum it is very interesting and informative it has a lovely cafe , great little work shops . Some original prison cells with details of the crimes the prisoners committed to end up in there . It has a lovely little outdoor area , and dressing up for children and adults alike . It also has some very interesting exhibits and changes them regularly . It also has stocks which you can sit in and imagine what it must have been like to really have to endure that punishment . It is a great place to visit for young and old alike and it is free to enter . It is well worth a visit to the museum and also it has the bonus of being in the beautiful town of Bewdley.

Lovely little free museum. Small shop, galley style cobbled passage with exhibits on Bewdley's historic industries on one side and small creative businesses on the other. There are interactive bits for the children and a gorgeous garden leading up to the forge building. There's a cafe with delicious food and plenty of seating and at the far end it leads straight out into the Jubilee gardens and a car park. Accessibility is great apart from a few steps to the forge and there are plenty of clean loos. If you visit Bewdley, I highly recommend a visit to this museum.

Came across Bewdley museum when we visited Bewdley. We parked the car in a walled car park. We exited it at the back and emerged into a series of walled gardens which led into the museum. The first building we visited was a small casting facility dating back to Victoria. It had been well renovated. After that we visited the other parts . There was a rope making area together with other earlier work places. All very pleasantly displayed. A very nice cafe and a shop at the very end, just before entering the High Street.
