Although it is lovely to see and go on a steam train (Zak loves them) I was disappointed for a few reasons. I was sent an email with a list of things to do at each station which gave me the impression there was lots of things to do along the way. However, this is not the case. The engine house takes ten minutes to look around, but was stunning to see the big engines. They claimed that they had Gordon the big blue engine at the engine house and even put a photo of Gordon from Thomas the tank engine next to it. This lead me to think we would see Gordon from Thomas and friends. In reality it was a navy blue engine called Gordon. Then I planned to see the railway museum at the Kidderminster stop, but it was an old junk hole, all tatty and blocked off, not a thing to see and with nothing in it apart from a cafe at the front. Dissapointed. I would rather just pay for a ride on the train than be scammed into thinking there was other things to do on a day trip, this is more for adults than children. They claimed to have a huge beach but it was just a sand box and the sand is dry so you can't even make anything with it. Good day for older people if you want a scenic stroll. Wouldn't bother with young children. I mean, you can watch the engines go by from the bridges but they come every hour or something. Children don't want to stand about...
Read moreHad a fantastic time we booked this trip on the ghost train back in June got upgrade to a Carriage because of Social distancing so definitely well worth the money.
With everything that's happened this year covid restrictions etc. , we feared that we may not be able to go. But with the social Distancing and covid face covering, it wasn't Intrusive to our experience.
The ghosts, lights, grave yard and stations were amazing. All stations were well decorated, and had lots of Scary characters. They came up to the windows on the station and in the carriage. There was never a dull moment. Lol couldn't resist I may have scared one of the characters back!
Next year if covid doesn't raise its ugly head I will be doing the scream train!
BIG Thank you Severn valley Railway for giving us something to look forward to, and for working so hard to making the ghost train still happen, Weldone! The evening has...
Read moreFantastic day out for all the family. Visiting the Severn Valley railway was a lovely trip down memory lane, not just seeing the old fashioned steam trains, station and surrounding, but great memories of day trips out we used to do as kids. Was fun to see that my dad and family were even more excited as this was something they did as kids too with their parents. The staff who visited our cabins gave some excellent advice on things to do during our trip. Keep an eye out on route as you go past the West Midlands safari Park where you can see the camels and rhinos. Shame we didn't have time to do the engine yard as I'm sure that would have been amazing. Worth a trip if you enjoy that sort of thing. I think our cabin was £25 each for the trip from Bridgnorth to Kidderminster and back which I guess wasn't bad as a...
