Xtreme Paintball & Airsoft — Attraction in Agawam

UPDATE : SO, after a bunch of times going for a great day of paintballing, we are a disappointed and rather put off at this point. There are a bunch of small incidences that make you take pause. but most of them are normal, expected possible issues, and that's fine, However, I think there may be some dishonesty there , and definitely shoddy stuff going on. I don't really like that, so I'm not sure how much longer we'll be going . A few months ago, around Sept/oct 2023, they were having some issues with the balls. They kept exploding inside the guns because it was too cold , and the ball casings were too brittle to withstand the cold. ( this is what the staff told us ) Since you can only use their balls on field, that makes a very bad time when there's a bad batch of balls. They gave us a free box of balls for our inconvenience, and said they'd take care of us next time we came to play. Well, we haven't been in months because of the cold weather. It makes no sense to go play with balls that we already know don't hold up in the cold. They didn't hold up today in the warmer weather either, and they were exploding inside the guns. Tried to tell Joe, and the staff , but all they said was " Yeah, we had a bad batch a while back , sorry about that " . Well, your staff promised to make things right when we came back , and no one did that today. Those balls are $50 a box, that's not cheap , esp when you have to buy multiple boxes . I'm not really sure where we stand at this point because it really is a great time, and we usually enjoy ourselves. We have not had a good experience the past 3 visits and it all could have been avoided if they stepped up and kept their initial word by making it right . So, I guess I'd say at this point, I'm just not sure about Xtreme Paintball anymore. I have a strong feeling they're just a typical venue , and not as amazing as we first thought. Lets be honest, it's rare to find a well run business these days , and we really thought we'd found a gem. But alas, things always look so much better in the beginning before you have time to see the truth. I'll end up deleting this portion of my review if they end up making my husband feel less irritated and screwed over.

Pros: maintained field, different maps, good engaging staff, runs smoothly. Very little drama on the field. Lots of potential here.

Cons: Short 10min games make it much less interesting and kind of a bummer at times. They use mostly small areas for games when they have more room available. Limited game modes.

Long-time airsoft player and often attend with several friends. Used to play paintball for years. Play styles and pace of play for each are different. As far as running airsoft games compared to psintball. This place has come a long way over the last year. They have minimized wait times between games and it runs pretty smoothly.

There are unfortunately a few things that keep us driving further to some other places when we can. Games are very short at 10 minutes. The problem here is once you start rolling on a game it's over. That's fine for smaller fast paced maps like their tire map or their Nuketown. They have quite a big area to use but unfortunately they limit games to pretty small areas. One map is a decent size, but out of the 8-10 times I've played here, they have only used it 2 or 3 times. It would be great if a couple of fields could be regularly combined a few times a day for longer scenario games where maneuvers are possible and you can make use of some of the landscape out of sight of the other team. Currently this is not possible except maybe on the larger map they have there, but they rarely ever seem to use. It's a little frustrating especially if you like to do sniper teams or anything like that. This sort of play is what draws people to places with larger Fields like UBG where you have 20 to 30 minute games on larger maps which allowed developed play. Otherwise it's just a bunch of guys rushing at each other behind little barriers. Which is fun but gets old quick when it's every game.

I will keep coming here because the people that run the place seem to have a good attitude, and are receptive to feedback and I hope they will adopt some of these suggestions. They maintain the fields well. They are doing an overall good job. I'm really hoping for a longer games and more time on larger fields. It's also the closest outdoor field to me and my freinds. I have been coming to Xtreme for over 10 years and I have never had a negative experience in all that time...in fact, the field has only gotten bigger and better.

Joe (the owner) and his staff run their business very safely and professionally, both on and off of the field.

Everyone is very respectful, friendly, and always willing to help if you have a problem with any of your equipment.

There is a large open parking area, so you will not have any trouble finding a place for your vehicle. When you arrive, they will have you sign a waiver. Players under 18 need a parent/guardian signature. You then go to their main building and pay, and get set up with what you need.

They have plentiful rental equipment if you are trying it out for the first time, and they explain everything clearly on rules, safety, and how to use it.

If you have your own equipment, they have different paint qualities depending on what you want.

Next, there is a large staging area where you can get ready and keep your equipment in between games (best when going as a group)

Rules are ALWAYS clearly stated by the referees before every game, and the rules are enforced for everyone's safety. Pretty simple...follow the rules, and you WILL have a great time all day long.

The types of games are changed through the day (elimination, capture the flag, attack & defend, and a few others). Xtreme has done a great job and worked very hard with the different playing fields to keep things exciting.

Also, don't worry about food or water. There is always a lunch break in the middle of the day where pizza and beverages are sold at the main building that they have, and beverages are always on hand so you don't get dehydrated (alcohol is not allowed).

All in all, if you are looking for a fun and exciting paintball experience, come to Xtreme. You will have an amazing time and hopefully, will want to return over and over again.
