It was still being built during my first semester at the University of Akron (Fall 2002) and it opened up for use for the Spring Semester of 2003(while they built the other half). It was fully completed by the Fall Semester of 2003 and I loved it. The great memories of bowling, free movies, DDR (which I'm bummed is gone), and they even had a video rental store back in the early days (1st floor under starbucks). Read moreMy son is getting ready to attend Akron U on scholarship starting this Monday & it's definitely a lot nicer than when I was going to attend there but chose Kent State instead. They've closed off a lot of the busy streets you once had to cross & a lot of the buildings are located in the same area. The student Union has a lot of different comfy seating areas & it's just an all around much nicer place, relaxed, less concrete place to attend.
