This place is usually good. However the last 2 times I've boarded my dogs here they have come home with kennel cough. Despite being vaccinated. This tells me that they are not taking the proper measures to clean the facility well enough. I mean come on. 2 times in a row that I've boarded my dogs they come home with kennel cough. They told me that they didnt notice any symptoms of kennel cough. I strongly feel that they are instructed to say that. As we were walking our dogs out the front door one of them started hacking. I even said to my husband "there's the kennel cough" which means they obviously had seen her coughing. She's not going to magically start showing symptoms the 2nd I show up. She had already been showing symptoms yet they said she was showing none. May have to find another place to board. They need to be cleaning the facility much more aggressively! Originally my review was a 1 star. I have to change it to at least a 3 or 4 star. I recieved a call today from albany pet hotel after they saw this review, making this situation right. They offered to pay a vet bill if I had one. I said at this point I wasn't taking Emma to the vet. Last time my dogs got the kennel cough was the end of March and I gave them 2 tsps of honey a day until it went away. Seemed to work just fine. Albany pet hotel offered to pay my vet bill. But again I am not going to take Emma to the vet at this point. I will continue with the honey. If it gets too bad I will take her to the vet. But the fact that albany pet hotel called me to make things right I admire. I feel that they have done an amazing job with their customer service. I do find the kennel cough vaccine as ineffective as the human flu shot. It doesn't work. There's too many different strains. The vaccine distributors do their best to gauge which strains will hit and they are often totally wrong. But it is a requirement to have dogs boarded there. And for sure you kept on telling we are full which I believed it. This is since 2019 which I used to put my dogs at your hotel. I tried calling in November 2024 to make a reservation for May of this year the staff said we canāt take it now itās too early please call in January I tried in January they said which is couple days ago they said please call in February. When I tried to explain I really want to make sure I have place to keep my dogs safe when Iām not in town in may the staff told me wait a minute let me see if I can do it this early. Guess what!! They said we canāt take your dogs sorry. I asked why they said we donāt know we have notes that say we canāt take your dogs. I donāt know what happened. Today I get a call from the manager āJamieā saying some young guy came in to take the dogs we were closed he walked in from the kitchen. What!!! This is the first time I hear something like this especially when Iām the one who picked up my dogs with my husband who is not a young guy after my wedding. Iāll pull up my bank statement to show the date and the payment that was made by us when we picked the dogs up.
This is so shameful and disappointing. All this years you were lying saying you donāt have any openings and letting try to book for almost FIVE years every time I call. I canāt believe what just happened. Blaming me for something I never did or even what happened with no explanation all of this time. If something happened like this or I did it I would have not kept on trying to book at your place since the last time. But you donāt know how to do business at all or care about your customers. They took very good care of her as she had been with us since she was 2 weeks old and we have only left her in a kennel ONCE before. When we got her back, she was very excited to see us and didn't appear to be abused in any way. (I think the workers were glad that we came to get her though - as she is a very spoiled pup.) Another time, my husband and I went to the coast and while our puppy is not riding well in cars, we decided to leave her at the kennel for the day. However, our time slipped away and we weren't able to make it back before they closed so we called and asked if it was ok that our puppy stay the night with them and we would be there first thing in the morning to get her - they said that it was no problem. When I asked how she was doing, they informed me that she was playing well with the other guests in their hotel - I was completely satisfied. We have NEVER had a problem leaving Gracey at their hotel. Of course our dog doesn't like staying anywhere where we are NOT, but when we get her back, she is never dehydrated, abused, shy, or anything! When we get her back, she always appears to be the wild, happy puppy that we left there. We appreciate this place as it is convenient when we have no other alternatives and we don't want to leave our dog unattended when we know we will be away from her at hours at a time.
