The customer service level received by the owner was unprofessional and unacceptable. I have a preferred instructor that I go to and my main reason for going to this establishment. As I was going to check if there was a waiting list to invite my friend, I noticed a change in the instructor for the class I was signed up for weeks prior. I find it ironic how they expect a notice to cancel within 6 hours from the class start time but don’t find it necessary to notify you if they change the instructor for the class you initially signed up for. I immediately called them to move classes hoping they would understand that this was no longer my preferred instructor or original class that I signed up for. I was told that I would have to pay the late cancellation fee or go to the class and use one of my passes. After speaking to the owner it was clear that she does not care to understand or learn from her customers. I realize all of the instructors are certified and “trained the same” but you fail to understand what PREFERRED class means and it doesn’t just consist of the time and day. I should be able to use my passes how I choose with my preferred instructor/class. In the end I was charged a late cancellation fee even though I was not given a notice of instructor change. Unfortunately for me, I have a package and still have pre-paid classes. I’ve chosen to take the loss and not seek any further action but still hope that this information can help them learn from their wrongs. Once my passes are completed, I will no longer be supporting this business or referring them due to...
Read moreThere is a limited number of classes that get reserved quickly so oftentimes you have to join a waitlist for the class. I was accepted into an 8 am class at midnight (12:04 am to be exact) and did not see the email in time to make the class in the morning (had checked before bed and didn't make it into the class) and was charged $20 extra dollars because I did not cancel in time (must cancel 6 hours before), which would have been at 2 a.m.. This charge is in addition to the loss of a class credit ($22) that is prepaid for (which is fair enough). I went in and kindly explained the unfair situation to the person working at the front desk who did not seem to care about this potential flaw in the waitlist system and suggest I keep my notifications on loud, so I asked to please cancel my membership immediately. Terrible customer service. They may be completely filled now and not care to lose customers, but soon enough Albuquerque will have many more Pilates studios and they’ll have to put more focus to their customer service. Upon cancellation, I still will be paying my next month due to the cancellation policy, but I’ll lose out on that money and use my time to go support a business that cares about their customers! Photos below to show that joining a waitlist is often necessary and you may find yourself in a similar situation.
UPDATE: after all of this above, they conveniently "lost my cancellation paperwork" that I signed in the studio and continued to charge me beyond the dates of...
Read moreI recently decided to move on from this studio after a year of mixed experiences. The studio is clean and the classes are well-structured, making them great for beginners to intermediate levels. However, the lack of variety in weights and movements means that over time, you’ll likely get bored and find yourself exploring more advanced or diverse options. Luckily, Albuquerque has some great alternatives.
My biggest issue was the overpowering fragrances in the studio. The main room smells excessively strong, like a cheap air freshener you’d find in a bad Airbnb. As someone with asthma and occasional fragrance sensitivities, this made it hard to fully enjoy the space. When I initially raised this concern, to their credit, they moved a plug-in out of the main room, which helped significantly for a while. Unfortunately, there are multiple plug-ins throughout the studio, and the strong odor is inescapable. When I brought it up again, it became clear that no permanent changes would be made.
The studio is less inclusive for people with respiratory sensitivities, which is disappointing—especially in a space where you want to be able to breathe freely and openly. If fragrances don’t bother you and you’re new to Pilates, this could be a good starting point. But for those who value variety, a fragrance-free environment, or a more advanced Pilates experience, you might want to...
