Jade Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Albuquerque

My family and I ordered 4 entrees right as they opened on Wednesday for lunch. It took awhile to be ready, but thats fine. They were really busy. With the on menu pricing, our meal should have cost $40.80 before tax. I was charged $54.93. Im not sure what kind of place charges that kind of tax, but I let it go because I am in the service industry and know how hard this pandemic is hitting our industry. I would just tell others to be cautious and ask for an itemized receipt. Which they did not offer, as its a family owed business that just writes it on a guest check and then calculated on a calculator. Had I not already been waiting 35 minutes and had a car full of kids, I might have argued the price, but I figured, maybe they changed the prices without updating them. Just be cautious people.

As far as the food goes, it was mediocre. We had beef fried rice, which was just ok. The pork fried rice was actually pretty good, which is weird that they tasted so different, with just the meats being different. The sesame chicken wasn't great. The sauce is really runny and didn't stick to the chicken. Which also made it easy to make a mess in the to go bags. Same with the orange chicken. Either way. I will not be returning. We tried Jade today for the first time and both got the lunch specials, served from 11-4p.m. They were about $10 each and you get either egg drop or sweet and sour soup, and an egg roll or sweet and sour pork, and fried rice along with your main dish. I got egg drop soup which was nothing special, but still good. The egg roll is really big and tasty, and you get a very large portion of fried rice.

For my main dish I got the orange chicken and let me tell you, IT'S THE BEST ORANGE CHICKEN I'VE EVER HAD!! (&orange chicken is my go to) It's so crispy and has more of a KFC/Popeyes fry instead of the doughy Chinese fry most places have. All juicy white meat chicken & tons of sauce, but the chicken was still crispy. They don't have a spicy orange chicken available to my knowledge which I usually prefer but this was so good it didn't matter.

*I do need to take one star off because there is no veggie option on the lunch specials which has ~22 other meat choices.

Warning!!! This restaurant has changed owners and the cook is different. I've been going there for twenty years and my sister law and brother were In town on november second and we all ordered our food and my sister inlaw ordered duck and it took 50 minutes for the duck to come to the table. All the food was terrible. No Exaggeration!! The worst food I have ever eaten in my life. If you want terrible dry food , then eat there but Otherwise I have warned you do not eat this terrible food you will get a stomach ache. We spent over a hundred dollars and we regret it to this day.
